Well it will. My first dress cost $69.00 and my second cost me $280.00, so it's not like I have spent a lot of money here or anything. The dress [that I should have bought originally] because it is so plain and there is a 25% off sale going on right now, is only $300.00.

I'm so sorry Heather. I understand where you are coming from. I had a hard time shopping because I was trying to find a dress that would please my DH or that was "appropriate" for the beach.

In the end, I really wanted the Cinderella poofy dress! It was my wedding, so that's what I got. You need to do what will make you happy. It is such a special day, you need to be happy and not second-guessing your choices.

I loved my dress but never had the "It's THE ONE" feeling. But, I was completely satisfied with my choice.

Good Luck!

I totally vibe with you on this one. I too had been havin a hard tme finding a dress and to make matters worse, I am not the Shopping type of girl so I have zero patience for this. The dresses I narrowed down are nice but do not give me the "Its the One" feeling and I am okay with that. I realized that maybe I am not just the type and I am not a terribly excitable person to begin with. I am very satisfied with it, more costly then I wanted to spend on a dress, but I am sure it will be beautiful. Go with what you choose, not your mom or sister.

Don't be so hard on yourself!!! =)

I hate to sound redundant.. but I agree with everyone else!!

Get what YOU like.. most bridal stores will work with you on timing. If you want the blue dress, then get it. As long as you love it, you can pull it off.

Hang in there and good luck!!

You will find something that makes you feel amazing!

I agree! It is your wedding day and it's important that you are wearing the dress that makes you feel beautiful and you are the only person that knows which dress that is! Go for it!

My dress just came in. I was stressing that it would be late and I wouldn't have the alterations done in time but the lady at the bridal shop assured me that they can actually have the alterations done in a few days. It is possible!

Don't be so hard on yourself!

i cried all day when i got my dress ... not tears of happiness, but tears of uncertainty! i kinda felt like i got railroaded into getting something that wasn't what i was looking for. it was beautiful, but way more dress than i wanted, and i never wanted heavy satin and beading and a long train. everyone cried and said it was the one.

afterward, i realized it was the right dress, because it made me feel like a bride, and all the flowy beachy dresses that i thought i wanted just didn't. the more i look at it now, the more i love it! and to think, i would have never even tried it on if my girls weren't there with me!

only problem now is i wonder how many other beautiful dresses i may have missed out on since i wasn't trying on anything satin/traditional!

Oh no, Heather!!! I didn't see this til tonight. hug2.gif

I think you looked lovely in the 2nd dress, but ultimately you have to feel lovely and sexy and beautiful and if none of them make you feel that way, then you have to find one that does.

It doens't matter what the freaking dress looks like or if other people like it. It's about YOU.

My first one was all about me being frugal and beachy and simple and buying it without stressing. It wasn't right. My second one has major flair and has that oomph that the first one was missing. For me - that meant having a really fun hemline with poof. If for you that means having pick ups and a strapless style OR going with an aqua coloured dress, DO IT! You will look beautiful no matter what,on your wedding day, but you have to feel beautiful too.

Would it be better to just go without your mom and sister? Do you have a friend who would be less opinionated?

Good luck! You can definitely find dresses off the rack. That's what I did last month when I had so little time to go.

Don't stress or beat yourself up because you didn't go with what you wanted in the first place! The most important thing is that you have time to find a dress that YOU love and that makes you feel good and that you aren't getting married in something that doesn't make you feel gorgeous and happy!

Awwww.. I totally understand how you feel. When I was picking my dress, the "one" that I really liked was plain on top with just a strip of beading around the waist and at the trim on top and the bottom was with pickups. If fitted perfect on me too, but then when I took my mom in to show it to her, she didn't like it and wanted me in a dress with a lot of beading on it. She ended up convincing me to change the dress and we bought it. But then that night at home I was crying and felt terrible that I didn't get the dress that "I" wanted! I even went back to the store and tried to change it but they would let me (all sales final smile27.gif) .

It took me a couple of weeks to get over it, but fortunately I now LOVE my dress to be!

The trying to please everyone else thing is kinda my problem too... I've been doing it because I don't want to put any stress or burden onto anybody in the wedding but that's driving me crazy too. This is just creating a BURDEN on ME ... so I'm working on changing my thought processing and trying to remember this is OUR wedding and what matters is what WE want, not them. I know everyone and their mamma wants to give you advice, just smile and listen, but then go with what YOU want.

GOOD LUCK in finding your dress.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
