After not being able to sleep for the past two nights, I have no idea what to do. After much thought, try-ons, pinning, etc., I have come to the realization that neither of my dresses are the one.

The first dress, with the low front and back, is very pretty, but it's doesn't give me that "it's the one" feeling. The second one, is very pretty as well, but it just kind of hangs there and doesn't do anything for my figure.

What sucks even more is that my sisters really like the first one and my Mom really likes the second one. So, when I was wearing them the other day in front of them all, all of them couldn't understand why I would want to get them altered and why I'm not feeling it. Then last night, I came to a realization that I am trying to please them and not me. Like, I'm not blaming them or anything, but I couldn't even bring up today to my sister that I'm having second thoughts because she would just attempt to convince me otherwise, rather than just accepting my feelings.

I have always been drawn to really simple dresses, with pickups and strapless, but once again, I never bought that style or seriously considered it because my family would say negative things about it.

I went yesterday to look at some dresses and found two that I really like. The first choice one is turquoise, and I know that I could dress it up with a white sash, but I know that I could never wear it because I'm not daring enough. The lady at the store said that she could rush order me in a white one, but it would take 8 weeks, leaving my seamstress 3 weeks to do alterations. Plus, I know that something would happen and the dress would take longer to get here.

My Mom and I plan on going today to look at a few that I had picked out yesterday, one I am able to buy off the shelf, but, I have no idea.

Thanks ladies, don't get my wrong- I'm not attempting to complain about my sisters and my Mom, I'm used to everyone being opinionated and I'm not blaming them for the dresses. I'm just stressed out because I am mad at myself for not listening to what I want, and not knowing what I want, and everything is just seemingly so difficult. Plus, I really did not want to be re-buying my third dress three months before the wedding.

You know?

Awe.....first off, calm down and breath! It will all fall into place. I was a bridesmaid in my friends wedding and like you she changed her mind as to what she wanted us to wear, like 7 weeks before her wedding. David's Bridal was nice enough to put a rush on the order and well they fit great on everybody BUT me....I'm pushing 5'1 on a good day. So I had to have like 9 inches taken off the bottom of the dress. I had a week and a half to get it altered to fit me. I went to a alterations place in my local mall and they had it ready in 4 days......Try going to the smaller alteration places, they tend to have less business and more time! And sometimes do a better job.

I hope my little story has helped you out.....Have faith and it'll be fine!

You totally need to buy the dress you want. My maid of honor actually pulled my dress off the rack to try on when we first got in the store and I hated it. I didn't want to even try it on and then after trying like 15 on she convinced me to try it and guess what - that's my dress.

I pretty much started crying as soon as I looked at myself in the mirror...that's how I knew it was the one I wanted.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
