My Long Overdue Engagement Story!

Recommended Posts

Alright, I figured I should post this so you ladies know a bit more about me other than "omg my dress this, or earrings blah blah blah" hehe cheesy.gif

So, background: My FI (Cam) and I have been dating nearly 8 years when he FINALLY proposed to me. We are highschool sweethearts and we've been living together for almost 5 years now. Lately, this summer, it seemed like everyone I went to college or high school with was now getting engaged or married and although I'm very happy for everyone, I couldn't help but be painfully aware of how NOT-engaged we were even though we live together, have a life together, etc.

So on Aug 18/08, I found out a friend and former co-worker had gotten engaged, I was so excited for her but again, paifully aware that I wouldn't be getting my opportunity any time soon, or so I was lead to believe haha. So the whole drive home and evening we kind of had a heated discussion about this as I am probably the least patient girl you will ever meet (I'm trying to learn though lol!). We said our parts and that was that.

The next day, Aug 19/08, I had a particularly long day at work and so I went to the gym for my daily workout. Cam needed to run some errands (or so he said, I wasn't suspicious at all though since it was believable), so he dropped me off at the gym and said he would pick me up when I was done in an hour. An hour comes and goes and he picks me up. I get in the car and he gives me a red rose without a stem. I looked at him and said "why would you give me a rose without a stem?" he just said "can't a guy give his girlfriend a flower?" so I just dropped it. We got home 5 minutes later and on the kitchen table he had laid out a long stemmed red rose with a love note beside it offering to take me to the musem (which I had mentioned to him months earlier that I wanted him to take me some time for fun). Down the hall he had another rose with another note which said he would take me to a movie (any!! haha yay!) of my choice, went down the stairs another rose and note saying he would take me to a restaurant of my choice. Finally, I got to the bedroom door (and I was tearing up at this point but trying hard to hide it) and there was a rose on the floor and a note on the door. It read that he would be honoured if I would wear "this" when we go on our dates. I opened the bedroom door which revealed a heart made of rose petals (which he plucked 9 roses himself to do) with my ring in the center of it. I was bawling like an idiot at this point he told me how much he loved me and how much I meant to him and if I would marry him. I said yes of course, but I just HAD to appologize for the night before for being such a miserable bitch. He just laughed at me and said I'm not supposed to be sad, I told him I wasn't, just that I felt awful for my spaz out.

That basically sums it up! Sorry it was so long haha! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
