Oh Honey, I'm so sorry that this is going on right now for you.

I agree that something fishy is going on. Why isn't Eric talking to you? You didn't do anything to him. Is he a professional photog- because he's definately not acting very professional.

Do you happen to know someone who is coming to your wedding that is pretty good with a camera? Maybe a distant cousin or an aunt? There always seems to be someone who loved taking pictures. You could also ask around and see if someone else [or the same person] is bringing down a really good camera, and maybe that person who could take your photos could use the other person's camera? They could always take the pictures, then, when you get back, you can contact a photog at home and see if they will touch them up for you?

No...Eric is not a pro...he just has a great camera & loves taking pics...he was "that person" for me!!
But I think Jeff's uncle is handy with a lens so I'll probably ask him. And thanks for the advice about getting a pro to edit them...that's a fantastic idea!!
I think I am going to contact Eric though to see if it's just a money issue...and if I found someone to room with him if he'd go then.
Thanks Heather!! And everyone else too for your kind & encouraging thoughts & words!!
I love all of you...and I don't know what I'd do without you!!

      xoxo

i'm still pissed off about this on your behalf. people are so annoying, that i don't know how we all managed to find ones that were decent enough to marry, LOL!

imo, they should have stuck to the triple and just worked out a "sock on the doorknob" system or something to signify the couple's "alone time." too late now, i guess.

let us know what eric says! i hope he still goes! if you get your photos on disc, i'm sure some BDW brides (myself included!) who are handy with photoshop will be willing to help you make at least a few of them look really spectacular and not charge you a cent!

I am so glad that you are feeling better Amanda and that you have another option for photography!

If Erik is a close friend; def talk to him and see what's going on. I agree with the others; there is more going on than 'meets the eye'.

                Hey Amanda,

Hope things are clearing up for you since you last posted. Some great alternatives have been given - I hadn't thought of getting a photog to do touchups after the fact.

So...I finally have some answers as to what the is going on here!
I was talking to my MOH & she laid it out. They just can't afford it (even though they've commited to going already & knew what the costs were!). So...I received an email from Eric today...

                  Good morning,

sorry so long to reply to your email, but I've been away on business since Thursday.

with regards to Chris C, as much as I'd like to put all the blame on him (because yes, he is still just as big an asshole as always ... lol) for not being able to attend the wedding, the simple fact is I just can't afford it. Chris booking with Angela and Vicki not going was no doubt the catalyst to my decision, but Jess and I can't afford to go whether its just me or its me and her going

And a word of advice for you as a soon-to-be new home owner... if you make a budget for a project that you think will cost $10,000, add another $3,000 because it always costs more than you think it will

                  See ya,

                  Eric

Sounds kind of lame to me...Here is my response...

                  Thanks for finally being honest.
I can't say I'm not disappointed - out of all my friends I thought you would be the one to be there. I just wish you would have thought about this before you booked. I would not be half as disappointed. What I guess I don't understand is that you took on this renovation to your house knowing that you had my wedding trip to pay for. Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying don't do anything with your house, that would be very selfish of me. But when you really think about it, your house will be there next year - this is your one time chance to see your friend get married. Maybe you could have timed it or budgeted it better, I don't know. When we decided to do a destination wedding we realized that some people would just not be able to afford to go and had you said from the get go that you could not afford it I would understand...I have so many friends like that.
As my friend I was wanting you to go, but as my photographer I was counting on you being there. Had you not been going we could have arranged our budget to be able to hire a professional, now being so close & with the house that is not an option. But we will figure something out.
I'm also not impressed with how you lashed out at Wanda lee Thursday night. That is completely uncalled for. She was just calling you for me. I was trying to reach you, but you were not answering my calls - so I called the one person I figured could reach you. I thought you were pissed because you were left with the room by yourself - I had something all worked out for you. Had I known the whole story maybe things would have turned out differently.
In any case, what's done is done. I am way to busy with my life right now to be dealing with this drama. Had I known it was going to be this much trouble Jeff and I would have grabbed our parents & witnesses & eloped.

                  Amanda

What do you think?? Too harsh...not harsh enough??

Wow....I have read everything on this thread and I can't imagine anything like this ever happening...although I'm sure it does more so then I think. I would be extreamly pissed if my friend/photographer did that to me. Like you told him you were relying on him to be there. I think as a gift to you he should give you some dough for the photographer...HAHA! I hope everything works out for you!

Wheew pretty harsh but whatever, obviously he isn't as good of a friend as you thought or else he would have come to you before this all blew up.
