Hi everyone-

I'm a newbie so I don't know how to use all of the icons and functions yet so please bear with me. Anyway, I'm getting married at RIU Vallarta in November and was wondering if anyone had been there and what their thoughts are on the place. Also, does anyone have a list of fun things to do in the area? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I am a Riu Jalisco bride (Riu Vallarta's neighbor) and I'm getting married in October. I've never been to either of the Riu's in PV but I think you will be pleased. There are plenty of reviews on trip Adviser (both good and bad reviews).

Have you been in touch with the wedding coordinator yet? My WC is Andrea and so far she is great. Which package did you decide to go with?

Hi, thanks for the warm welcome!

I have been to a couple of RIUs but not RIU Vallarta nor Jalisco. Overall, I really do like the hotels. We are actually honeymooning at RIU Palace in Cabo for 7 days because we will have been in PV for 6 days.

Anyway, Andrea is our coordinator and she seems very nice and acommodating. Right now we are going with the Caprice package, but we may downgrade to a less expensive package and get rid of things we don't need and just add extras of other things that we want/need. Does that make sense? The way it is set up, we don't pay for it until we get there and make a final decision on the package we want. Are you doing a reception after the ceremony? Indoors or outdoors?

Yep we're having a reception outdoors at the Bar Bahia. We rented 2 bartenders for the night and we rented the music equipment as well. I think we're just going to DJ ourselves (my cousin is pretty good at it - he actually DJ's in the city). I just have to think of some ways to decorate the place. Still haven't figured that part out yet!

Yes, the caprice is nice. We were going to do the caprice but I opted for getting some other extras instead so we moved to the Royal package. I guess we'll see how it goes. Are you using Aldo Tovar as the photographer? i really like his work.

Which package are you going with for Aldo? We may be using him... we have him booked but one of our friends who is a photographer may still come. So we are unsure what's going on. I think we were going to go with unlimtied photos for 5 hours. I forget which package that was... but it's on my computer which is packed away. GRRRR i should have backed up my wedding stuff before I pcked the computer up cuz now i'm going crazy without my wedding files and day to day budget files. AHHHHHH

Did you decide on how you will be decorating the Bar BAhia??

We haven't decided on which package to use for the photographer. Probably the same one - 5 hours unlimited. NO idea on how we are going to decorate yet. Do you have any ideas to share? I'm looking around for ideas now. Are you putting together a story board (of sorts) to give Andrea so she can see exactly what you want and how you want things? I am in the process of gathering that information now.

Hi- I am a Riu Vallarta bride to be (June 1st).

We are having a hard time with Andrea, I sent her an e-mail with 5 questions and a request to set up a meeting and she only answered one question. Kind of frustrating.

Are you ladies doing a reception at one of the resturants and then using the bar? We are doing the Flamingo Steakhouse and then renting the bar for dancing and drinks.

Are you both getting married on the beach? Have you been given options for decor?

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
