Does keeping lap top plugged in ruin it..

We keep ours plugged in all the time. It's never unplugged unless we go somewhere and take it. Then it will hold the charge for a few hours.

I have been in It for 20 years and leaving the laptop plugged in will not drain the battery. The battery life on a laptop will begin to deplete after one year anyway. If you are concerned about the battery life, remove the battery and run on AC power. Most are fairly easy to remove. Leaving the laptop plugged in will not ruin the laptop. Mine is plugged in and turned on 24/7.

yeah thanks for the advice...i've always been told not to keep it switched on...but, like earlier tonight, ran it down and forgot i had got the "only 10% battery left" warning...and it switched off on me!grrr luckily it resumed from where i left off once it got some charge in it!

 

I'll not hesitate to keep mine on charge for as long as i like now! although the heat that comes off my viao on charge is unreal!

When using a notebook computer running from fixed line power over extended periods, the battery should be removed,[38] and stored in a cool place so that it is not affected by the heat produced by the computer.

 

and one i want to add- get one of those cool things to set the laptop on. they plug into the usb & keep the computer from getting too hot.
