Newbie needs MAJOR help!! About to scream!

This forum is fantastic! Thank you to everyone that replied!!

Ok! I THINK I have made my final decision. I was going between the Iberostar Lindo and THE ROYAL Playa del Carmen and I have chosen....THE ROYAL!

They both have very good positives: Iberostar (great reviews, a lot of activities for all ages, free shuttle to Playa, adults night club, beautiful tropical grounds); ROYAL (great reviews, short walk to 5th street; responsive WC, adults only, etc.). Negatives: Iberostar (caters to families and we are a group of 25-35 year old partiers, huge resort complex so pretty spread out, you have to book a wedding date one year out to ensure you get your date-my finance in military so we need more flexibility); ROYAL (crowded beach so ceremony might not be as private, rooms look a bit tacky)

The something that scares me about the ROYAL is that I have to wait until November to set the time and place of the ceremony. I want a sunset wedding so hope I donâ€t get an 8am start time!

Thanks again for all of your wonderful comments!

I've shot weddings at the Royal. The gazebo location is really nice and very private. I've done two receptions on the beach there and it's a great setting, also quite private because everybody leaves the beach after sunset. I think the Royal is a great place. I'm now finishing a video of a ceremony at the gazebo that I will post online soon.

I'm planning to get married at The Royal also in January. I had the same concerns that you did but everything else about the resort seems so great. I read a lot of reviews on tripadvisor and they are all so good. I also like the fact that you don't have to make reservations for dinner and it is so close to town. I'm surprised to hear that you heard back from the WC so quickly. I have read some negative things at some resorts about the wedding coordinators really talking to you before a few months before the wedding. I am also considering maybe having the wedding at a different site. Good luck with everything. I'll let you know if I find out any good tips.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
