e-ring advice needed!! im really confused...

Recommended Posts

I had a ring picked out that I wanted, and even had the pic of it on the fridge so that it was there for him to see when it was time to buy the ring. We ended up getting engaged, but since I was off work at the time (had my son) the $$ was tight, so he got me a birthstone ring as a temp ring. We were engaged last Oct and I got my ring in June I believe. I don't think it is weird to get your ring later on at all. The ring I got was not the ring I wanted either, but he knew that I didn't want a big ring that stood above my finger too much, or I couldn't wear it to work. When he looked at the ring I wanted, it did stand up a lot, so he picked one out, and I love it!!!!

I say talk to him about it, and if you decide to have one ring, then there is nothing wrong with that either. A lot of people are only having one ring and whether you use an ering as your wedding ring as well, or you just get the wedding ring, all that matters is the love that the 2 of you share.

I agree with almost everyone else!!

First of all, your engagement is not strange at all. You don't need a ring to profess your love and commitment at the moment you propose!

Second, be honest with him and work it out together. My e-ring is something that I would have never-ever chosen myself; but it is FI's grandmother's ring and it means so much to me that his family wants me to have it! That being said, he knows what I like and when we have the $ for an anniversary; we are going to get me a right-hand ring of what I really wanted (which was a ruby ring).

Third, if $ is an issue.. I agree with what a few ppl have said - get an amazing wedding band that you love. He can always get you an 'engagement ring' later in your lives togehter when you can afford your dream ring.

I think you should tell him the truth. But that doesn't mean that you will still decide that you want to spend the money on a flashy ering. You might decide to do a wedding band and then for the 5 year anni or something, get something like an ering. But i would def be honest with him about it while still keeping in mind you shouldn't go into debt over a ring. Good luck!

Oh and I def agree with the poster that said to try them on. I knew what I wanted and got exactly that, but so many people's ideas change once they start looking around.

ladies thank you so much for all the help with this :)

we have talked about it a bit now and he knows what i want for an e-ring and its something we cant afford right now so I suggested that we wait and I will get an eternity wedding band and like many of you suggested for an anniversary in the future he will probably get me an "e-ring"....thank you so much i feel better that he now knows what i feel :)

Have you looked online at all for a ring? You can often save a LOT of money that way, and even get something better than in a B&M jewelry store.

I know that it seems strange to order something like an e-ring without actually seeing it, but it's not that bad. Well... not bad at all if you use a good vendor (with a good return/upgrade policy) who sells AGS and/or GIA certified stones.

Hey Michelle- I have just an "ering" but I don't really like any rings with it so it gets used as both. Remember to get something you really love and fits in your budget. We didn't have a ton of money either, but my DH was able to pick out the perfect ring for me without going bankrupt. If you like the idea of having just one ring, look at some unity rings.

Here's my ring and well Steve's too. I love it and we easily paid it off! You can have the best of both worlds.

Oh and I meant to mention it's ok to just get a band and wait for your perfect ring. After 20 years of marriage, my mom finally got the ring she always wanted and they didn't have to go broke doing it. It makes it a little more sweet when you don't have to have your ring cause you anxiety every time you pay the bill!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
