I had the same doubt, i think that it depends on how many guests you have. I first had a resort because i thought it would be easier and more affordable. When I set and did my math i saw that maybe not, and decide for the venue that got my heart  in the first place! Sunset Da Monalisa.  I canceled my resort date, got a large villa and everybody loved the idea. I planned it all! very easy with the help of this forum!!

Just curious @J0hanna - did you end up changing your venue?

Hi! I actually did, I went Villa Del Arco. the only thing I am a little concerned is the sales team when they try to sell the time shares to the guests at check-in. I keep hearing its gets really bad lol But other than that, it fits within our budget, the location is beautiful, and its kid friendly. Where are you having yours?

Keep us updated!

That's great! I'm glad you guys found a place that you were both happy with.

I'm having mine at Casa Dorada- a pretty new resort in the heart of Cabo. Everything has been pretty simple so far, and their dinner prices were actually REALLY affordable for supposedly great food. I'm going on a site visit in 2 weeks (right after Thanksgiving) so I'm going to do a tasting then- we shall see!

So the trip was awesome... we ended up just going to Costco and taking a look at their flowers, which were beautiful! They sold them by the bouquet, just like in the US. If you aren't too particular, this would be a great option, and were about 115-130 pesos per bouquet (about $10 each). I did not end up going to a flower market... If anyone is able to do this or has done this, please respond to this post as I am still interested in this option! For my cake I did a tasting with Deena from Sweet Dreams and it was AAAHHHMMAAAAAAAZING!!! I was told I could pick 3 flavors, but I couldn't pick just three and she let me do 5. All of them were good, so I decided to do mini bitesize cupcakes in 3 flavors so everyone could try them all. I will do a small one tiered cake on a stand to cut. Up until the tasting I was almost considering skipping the cake since my buffet includes dessert, but the cake was to good to pass up and I like the tradition of it. Also, I love food, especially sweets so it was a done deal. I was ablet to trade out the desserts on the buffet for appetizers, so it all worked out. I did look at cakes at Costco prior to the tasting, and they also looked tasty and were 150-170 pesos and looked like they would serve around 8-12 per cake. This would be a great (and much less expensive) option as well. I did speak to a florist while I was there, but have not booked anything with them yet... I'll probably have them do my arch. We are doing a DJ only, and planning to play some recorded music that my fiance's dad and brother will record for the ceremony (they are both musicians). We would have really like them to play live, but since his dad is the officiant and brother is the best man, it would have been too much. Also, I didn't want them to feel like we were putting them to work at our wedding! One thing I really want to find is 1.75 L bottles of Malibu and Cazadores... so if anyone can find the big bottles (in any liquor) let me know! We could only find Captain Morgan in this size at Sam's Club... Caboberrybride - when and where is your wedding? How cool that we will be there at the same time ;)

Hi again Flo :) I actually had a time share at Casa Dorada and considered hosting our wedding there but their coordinator last year (forgot her name) was so unresponsive. Prices were good, attention to detail and responsiveness horrible. That was the most frustrating part. Also, this hotel is on Medano Beach so there's a lot of visitor-vendor traffic on that beach. The hotel itself is beautiful, very modern, and their suites have a small kitchen with fridge, stove and microwave so if guests are up for a 5 minute drive to the Walmart Supercenter to load up on food and drinks, they will save a ton of money during their stay.

Thanks for the info- I was warned about the vendors on Medano Beach so we are having the wedding in the resort on a terrace looking out to the beach so you can't actually see any of the vendors from there. The music from the bar next door is loud as well, but they say they turn it down when there is a wedding. We'll see! And thanks for the tip on Walmart! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
