Thanks so much....

p.s. Did the hair stylist come to your room? or did you go to her? What time did you book your appointment? I have 4 other girls...when should I book them?

My oh my...the questions...hahaha :)

Thanks,

Jodie

Hey Jodie, I didn't notice any other lights at the reception. Just the ones strung in the trees. I also made luminaries for the tables which threw a bit of light. I don't think our photographer brought lights although he has crazy bit flashes.

For the hair we went to a little salon near the lobby of the hotel. She can only do one girl at a time and she takes a little bit longer than I expected. We started the mothers hair appointments at 9, then me, then my 3 BM's. I went earlier just in case it didn't work out and so that I could take my time doing my makeup. It all worked out great in the end.

Hi Jodie,

As a photographer, I recommend that your photographer brings a second light to the beach reception. It is very dark, because the only lighting there is from the strings around the tables. When I shot a wedding there I had one flash on the camera and the second flash on the stand to light the background. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Connie, were you able to pay for your hair appts with your credit card or did she only take CUC's? I have 6 ladies who need their hair done so I think we will need to start early. What time was your ceremony?
Also, did you bring anything for the workers at the resort? If so, what do you recommend bringing? We have crayons, pencil cases, and toys with the Canadian flag on them...what do you think?

They charged the hair appts to our rooms but we left cash tips. My ceremony was at 2, we started at 9 and it was a little tight with 2 moms, 3 BM's and myself. Just make sure you get your hair done early so you don't have to stress and have lots of time for makeup. I also arranged for one of our guests to do any last minute running around. It was super helpful b/c the BM's were busy getting ready and there turned out to be a lot of running around and the resort is very big, so no errand is a quick errand.

We brought chocolate bars, makeup, stationary and little nail kits. The stuff you are bringing sounds great. We found what makes the biggest difference is meeting your housekeeper and trying to get to know her. Some people who left the biggest tips got the worst service, really weird I know.

Sarah! I'm getting so excited for you! How was your trip to Winnipeg?

Sounds good, there will be 6 of us needing to get our hair done as well and my wedding is at 4, so I think we will need to start around 10 or 11. It would be nice to have more time to do my makeup so I'll make sure I go first for hair! I'll try to corner our best man's wife to do our running around - great idea! I'm sure there's always last-minute things to get done.
Thanks for the tip on getting to know the housekeeper! We will be sure to pass that along.
Winnipeg was great! I got to see my MOH and meet my flower girl for the first time! Unfortunately, we did not find a dress for my MOH but she is on the case LOL I cannot stress about it or I'd go nuts! We did find a flower girl dress for her daughter though, so for wedding attire, it wasn't a complete loss! Plus, it was great to catch up with my MOH since we only see each other about twice a year!

Jill..have you got in touch with Yaly yet? We've extended ours to May as well...who knows maybe we'll be there the same time!! I will know our dates exactly after the weekend...we're finally going to book the trip and finalize everything.

Sarah...I can't believe your wedding is so close. Is everything almost organized? How are you handling the stress? I'm sure everything will be great!!!!!

I have my moments where I stress out! When we passed the 2 month mark, I freaked a bit for sure.

My MOH emailed me to tell me she thinks she found a dress. She's not crazy about the style but the color is what I want (royal blue). Because we waited so long before looking for dresses for her, we can't order a dress from a bridal shop anymore so she is forced to buy something off the rack which is limiting. However, I still think it's a nice dress so I hope she gets it because time is running out!

My FI did an hour long fashion show last night with various different pants and shirts we ordered and I THINK it is now finalized...LOL I have no idea why it takes so long to make that decision. He ended up going with the one I liked (go figure) an hour after trying on all different combos!

My OOT bags have been ready for awhile (honestly, I had the best time getting everything together) I just need to print off my itineraries, finish my DIY luminaries, write my welcome notes, finalize my music choices, and create some playlists for the reception. My final dress fitting is March 28, I made my nail appt, hair trial appt, dentist appt already and I am hoping to get to Sephora for a makeup trial and keep tanning so I have some color!

Glad to hear your MOH may have found a dress, my BM/MOH are also wearing a royal/cobalt blue. In case you have someone near Toronto (Yorkdale Mall to be precise) these are the dresses I found:

You sound very organized...I've already started my OOT bags and I'm not getting hitched till next may...so hopefully I won't have too much to worry about when the time comes.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
