I got gel nails a few days before we left (probably a week and a half before our actual wedding). They fared pretty well, but I was trying to be super careful in case one of them broke. By our wedding day they were getting a bit ragged looking around the cuticles but I just put lotion on them and that seemed to help. The one time in my life I could say, Oh dear, I can't carry that luggage because of my nails and DH would comply...LOL!

The lady at the salon does do nails, however, I didn't see anyone who got their nails done there.

I got my nails done before I left. It was part of the package to get them done while there, but I took one look at their tools and got scared. Its not like a salon here, they don't have much to work with and it doesn't look very sterile. I did bring my own nail polish and she re-did my french manicure because it looked pretty rough the day before the wedding. She did a great job painting them, but that was all I let her do, I refused to let her file them or push the cuticles back, etc... If you want them done I suggest you bring all your own stuff. She will do a great job for sure.

Congrats Sarah!! You looked stunning!

Quick question for Julie and Connie, I'm a little concerned now, about the beach bbq. I never realized that it was only from 7-10pm. I wonder can I extend it? What did you guys do after 10PM? I know my group will want to party well into the night!

Now I don't know what to do............

Mine actually went till later than that. lol We got lots of bottles of wine from the bar and we all stayed there on the dance floor while they took they tables down and put stuff away (which they didn't do till 11). We convinced the DJ to leave the music going and save that till the end and he did. It was about midnight when we all moved on to the disco. The disco kept going for a long time, not sure how late, and we partied there till they closed it, then we moved to the sports bar because its 24 hours. lol I think I went to bed at 4 AM. So do not worry about not being able to party all night. As long as you want to party, there is somewhere that you can still get drinks and have a good time.

Thanks Julie! :)

I feel so much better now (lol), I hope we can at least stay till midnight, then move to the disco, then the sports bar/beer garden. That would be PERFECT!!! I'm sure with my wedding group it will be an all nighter! haha

Thanks for the advice on the nails. I don't think me and fake nails will work to well, so as long as I know she can touch up a french manicure I'll go that direction (thanks for the heads up Julie..will bring my own stuff down).

Very strange that the BBQ is only 3 hours. I guess I just automatically assumed it would go till at least midnight. Doesn't give you too much time to eat, do speeches, dance, chit chat, bouquet/garter toss. Oh well...maybe we can get it extended a bit but at least I don't have to worry about so many songs now on the playlists.

Hi there everyone!

Glad I stumbled across this site. Wonderful information to be found. So we finally picked our wedding date and decided to have it at Playa Pesquero. (Known two couple to get married there and they were both awesome!)

I have emailed Yaly letting her know our interest and the date we choose (Oct 20/10). Wondering if anyone can let me know the next step?! I'm totally lost when it comes to planning this. Should I find a Travel Agent now? Wait? What do I let the travel agent know?

Also wondered about photographers? Who did u use?

Thanks for any help in advance I really appreciate it.

Crystal

Hi Crystal

Next step would totally be to get a travel agent, and then once you have those details send out your save the dates. Also make a wedding website, if you want one.

That is about it, you can relax after that and plan things slowly because you have time.

I brought my photographer with me. I highly recommend you do the same thing. The resort photographer is not very good and the quality of the pictures is not very good either. But, that all depends on what is important to you, the pictures were one of the most important things to me, so I am very very happy that I brought a photog along.

We got there on October 20th, 2007 :) Its a great time of the year to get married and it means you get the free wedding package which is an amazing bonus. Don't hesitate to ask any questions you have.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
