Fantastic! Julie, your comments are giving me more confidence and I will likely book this resort. I'm only hesitating to find out some details from Yaly about the wedding. The english part of their website is not working so I feel like I'd be booking blind.

As I know she's busy perhaps someone here can answer a couple of questions? For the wedding do you know if they charge a per person fee (I want to do the beach BBQ)? Do they charge for outside vendors to come in? I'm planning on having one of my close friends take pictures but she is a professional photographer.

And I haven't been to Cuba yet so I really appreciate the information about the food. That's one of the reasons we chose Cuba: neither myself or my fiance have been there and I think it'll make it more special.

Hey Lori,

You do have to pay a per person fee for the beach BBQ. I do not know how much it is because I am sure it has changed since we were there.

They do allow outside vendors, we brought our photographer along, as long as they are a guest, I don't think its an issue at all. In fact I bet it would be okay even if they were not a guest, they are pretty lax.

Yaly is very busy, she is the only WC there and its so busy, so just be patient, she will reply to you soon. Try to brainstorm and ask all your questions in one email, instead of in a few different ones, because she will reply to 1 and then move on to someone else's emails.

We paid approx $40 Canadian per person for the beach BBQ. We also only had a symbolic ceremony which cost about $300. We brought our photographer and it was no problem at all.

We thought the food was excellent. There are two large buffets and 7 a la care restaurants. You can only go to 4 of the dinner ones and you need reservations. We found it impossible to book any restaurant for our whole group other than the welcome dinner which I arranged with Yaly ahead of time.

Once you do get into the restaurants we found the food to be pretty good. Nothing outstanding but no one was complaining of being hungry and there was always lots of variety.

During the day there are a number of restaurants open where you don't need reservations and the food is delicious. One particular rest. only serves chicken dishes but they are awesome!

If you have any other questions, fire away!

And thanks everyone for your responses. It's very helpful. I didn't realize a symbolic ceremony would be so much cheaper.

It depends on when you are getting married and how many people you have coming. Our legal ceremony was totally free, we had a lot of free stuff included in our package, like my hair and flowers, etc... We got married in October and had 52 guests, but I think you only need to have 10 rooms booked to get the free wedding package. The beach BBQ was extra, but was worth every penny.

Just wondering what you did for the welcome dinner and how much it cost? Thank you!
We just made a reservation with Yaly for the whole group the night that everyone arrived. It was a nice dinner and we were able to hand out our welcome gifts. The only pain was that I had to run around getting everyone's room numbers when we arrived for the reservation. Not exactly a stress free arrival when everyone wants to go explore and you're running around getting all their info.
We also made the reservation for a bit later (7:30) so people had time to take a nap after a long day of traveling.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
