SUCH A BEAUTIFUL RESORT.

The staff are amazing and love when canadians visit.

bring as much goodies as you can for the maids and special staff members (ie. toiletries, tagged clothing, kids toys)

you'll have a blast. I'm thinking about Holguin for my wedding too....

I'm just finishing up mine..it includes information about the following:

wedding day timeline, currency, weather, excursions, small reminder packing list (passport, id, tickets, bug repellent, alarm clock, extra batteries etc.), informing bank you're going on vacation (so they don't freeze your credit cards/bank card), luggage restrictions....I think that's it

I'm sending out my luggage tags with the brochure.

Money: bring about 20 dollars in USD ones for tipping your maid... leave a dollar or two on your bed every day... with little nick-nacks.

don't bring an AMEX, or US bank credit card (capital one, etc....); they wont accept it. if they do, you'll be charged an 11-25% premium..... yep.

Currency for Tourist: Convertable pesos. it's almost 1-for-1.... 1 peso is like 1.10 cdn

We only paid in pesos, we were told not to bring US when I got married, so they haven't accepted it for a long time. There is an exchange place at the resort, or you can get some in advance through the bank like we did, but it takes the bank a little time to order it, so go a few weeks before you leave at the the latest.

Don't tip in US, the maids and staff can't exchange it, so its no good to them. Its best to tip in Pesos because they don't have to try to get it exchanged. The staff also can't exchange CDN change, only bills, so keep that in mind as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
