I am really happy to have found this thread! my current diet is the following:

1. eat 1 pc of toast and coffee in the morning
2. eat salad for lunch (.4 on the scale at the salad bar)
3. eat salad for dinner (and one truffle here and there)

The salad thing can get boring, but I have different kinds of dressings, I switch from romaine to spinach, i add fruit sometimes, and i switch the protein (sometimes shrimp, sometimes chicken, sometimes steak, salmon etc)....

The problem in during weekends when I am socializing more so now with holidays etc. I hope that I can eat less and work out more.
Cutierosie,

I couldn't do the salad lunch and dinner for more than two days in a row. For me, I try mixing things up for my lunch and dinner, remembering 1/2 of your plate should be veggies, 1/4 grains and starches and 1/4 meat/fish/proteins like what you are doing with salads but choosing different things like a baked chicken breast (deck of card size) with lemon and herb seasoning, 2-3 types of veggies and brown rice so I don't get bored. I also try to eat a big breakfast so my stomach is working throughout the day (e.g. 1/2 cup of oatmeal with a few almonds and a handful or two of blueberries, 1/2 grapefruit, a small glass of juice, and a tea for the drive in to work) . I also switched to green tea from coffee and increased my water consumption to help the wieght come off. I think the sugar I used to add to my coffee was part of my problem. For me, when I limit myself to strictly, I tend to fall off the wagon too much and eat the junk.

Wow, there are 4 of us with April 11th, i was the only one for forever!

Rosie, I am a vegetarian, I eat a vegi-plate for lunch every day (seriously!), and i love salad for dinner... that being said, i bet you would have more success if you added some protein into your diet, cheese, beans, lentils... anything really. If you are eating only 1 slice of toast as your carb for the day, your body is going to think you are starving yourself and retain every-last-calorie it can... I bet you would lose more if you just upped the intensity of your workouts a bit and added some protein... Just a thought...

I have been working out tons, eating really healthy and as little as possible I suppose, while remaining healthy and balanced...it has been paying off, but i have never worked this hard in my life! I just hope to keep it up until april!

Here's a bout of encouragement for all of us. We're working our butts off (hopefully litteraly) and it's definately not easy to have will power and motivation to eat well, not eat junk food and get out butts to the gym. It seems like you work so hard and then every week seems like there's so little change. Just keep working at it and for those of you who say..I just hope I can keep it up...you won't have to! Maintaining is definately easier than losing weight. You definately still have to watch what you eat so that you don't go overboard but those little cheat snacks can happen a little more often when you're maintaining and you don't have to be quite so strict.

So here's to getting to our goal weights and then staying there!!! That's my motivation. I could never keep this up forever but the idea of only having to maintain is motivation enough to get there!

Hey there ladies, how is everyone doing? It's so hard with the holidays upon us; but I keep thinking dress, swimsuit, dress! My goal was to lose five lbs. by Christmas and I hit that this weekend! I have about 10-15 more to go before the wedding. I am excited for January to hit and to have more friends on the health kick with me.

That's absolutely awesome Shannon!

I am soooo struggling. Every year our family makes these mini pecan pies and pecan candies for Christmas. I have to resist the urge to eat them! But it's tradition (and quite possibly the tradition that caused me to gain weight in the first place. . . lol).

The holidays are tought!!! I made my Christmas goal and then some...and then it was like I had permission to pig out!! I havn't gained enough back yet to blunder my goal but I know that once you're off the wagon it's way harder to get back on!!

I just have to keep thinking about the swimsuits and the dress...I'm going to drink lots more water and try to say no to every second "ilegal" food that's tossed my way....hope it works!! Oh yeah and gym, cardio, weights...

Good luck ladies!!

  • 1 month later...

How are all you April brides doing? It's definately time to kick it into gear. We're only months away now and we can even start counting weeks...eeek.

I started counting my calories on sparkpeople.com and it has really helped me to make better choices. Before I eat something junky I think about what I've already eaten that day and I can decided from that if it's worth having the treat. It's really working well for me and by doing that with exersice I've lost 2.5 lbs in 1.5 weeks. It's great!

What are you doing to stay on track so close to our wedding dates?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
