I am a March bride, and just last night my wedding gown came in. Good news it "fits" but if I want to be able to breath I need to drop some weight. Now for the bad news a couple of days ago somebody asked me when my baby was due!!! So that was my real insensitive to start operation weight loss.

I broke down last night... the FI decided he wanted to do pizza and a movie. I was being good; sitting next to that mouth watering pizza eating my salad. But I broke; I ended up eating three slices... well not really whole slices...

I kinda just ate a few bites of pizza then ate off all the toppings! LOL... hopefully that won't show too badly on my weight loss progress.

So I me and a girl in my office were talking about weight loss, and we decided to give up carbs for lent which starts Feb 26 and ends April 11, which is perfect for getting ready for the wedding for all us April/May brides. I've never tried to give up carbs before, so it'll definitely be a huge challenge!

I like the idea of no carbs, I have done it myself before and had good results and was able to keep the weight off. I think I may join you, and I am still considering going to Mexico and getting weight loss pills there. Sound risky? Could be, but I am desperate and have serious lack of self control.

I know that cutting down on carbs is a great way to lose weight especially if it's balanced. Make sure that you're just cutting them and not eliminating them altogether though. You need carbs for energy so if you're going to work out you're going to need carbs!!

Before I'd try diet pills (especially that aren't FDA approved) I would check out green tea extract. - it was suggested to me recently and I asked a doctor friend about it and he said "It can't hurt and there seems to be lots of benefits!"

I don't mean to sound like I'm telling you what to do, it's of course only a suggestion. But I have been a fitness professional for years and I'm always scared when people eliminate a food group or experiment with pills. Sorry if I sound too uptight!!... I just wouldn't want anyone to jeopardize their health!!!!

I would like to lose 10 pounds, I know 10 pounds might not seem like much but I am 5'3 and those 10 pounds don't seem to want to budge. Unless I just stop eating altogether, I once tried counting calories but I am not going to lie I was starving by the end of the day. Do you have any secret remedies?

Wow, i have been totally absent from this thread that i so wanted to start! It is great seeing so many other people with the same goals and challenges! I had been so good at going to the gym, eating well... and then the weekend happened! Beer, nachos, too much food, wine, ugh! I thought i had done irreparable damage! Thankfully it just made me more committed to my goal, and i am back on track!

Misha, i also think that the mexican diet pills are sketchy... try the green tea extract first, or an online calorie counter (i like Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate), or even Weight Watchers (my personal choice these days).... i wouldn't risk your health on something like that.... Just my 2 cents!

I can't give up carbs, i eat way too many fruits & veg, i do restrict pasta to a once-a-week treat though!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
