Nuevo Vallarta Whoas...

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am very excited about my upcoming wedding in Nuevo Vallarta at the Riu Vallarta and have read some great postings that have helped me to make decisions regarding pictures, cake, etc.

What I am worried about because of my Type A personality and the fact that i am an Event Coordinator in Canada is that I cannot seem to get my questions answered by my coordinator Erika. I am a month and week to the day and am starting to worry.

I want to ensure I have proper legals finished but those questions aren't even answered.... I am sure it will all be good but can anyone sooth my stresshuh.gif lol

Another worry is that they generally have 3 weddings per day, from what i have heard so if you don't get in your request for restaurant, time, etc. do you not get what you want because your emails aren't answered?

Thank you for any feedback you have :)

Hi Jamie!

I am getting married at the Riu Jalisco next door. My wedding coordinator is Erika too. Do you mean you are getting married in a month?

She is definitely slow to reply. I received an email from her this morning in response to an email I sent 3 weeks ago. A previous bride there, said that although this is scary leading up to it, when you get there, she does pull it all together.

My travel agent requested the restaurant for me, but I am not sure on the 3 a day. The way it was explained to me is, they try to only do one a day, but can do up to 3 a day, and max out then.

The one thing I rushed on was booking space for the party after dinner, in case there were 3 on my day!

My wedding date is December 11th. we arrive at the hotel on the 6th so yes, I am freaking out a bit. I cc'd my travel agent on my last email so she could follow up with a bit more clout! I just called my agent and I am getting her on it :)

Thank you for your help.

Have you tried calling the Riu Vallarta yourself and speaking with Erika? I know my DH did that and it helped solve matters.

Yes they do 3 weddings max a day but those 3 weddings are split among the resorts (Riu Jalisco & Riu Vallarta).

Luckily I was the only wedding on the date I chose so I'm not sure if I got more attention from Erika and her assistant or not but I can assure you they really work their butts off to make sure all your requests are met.

Which restaurant at the Vallarta did you want the dinner at?

Thank you soo much for the offer! Erika has finally been in touch and I think I will get it figured from her information. I am in an ivory dress and of course the arch and chairs are white - YIKES. my wedding party is mainly in black and the groom went out on his own and came home with a powder blue dress shirt for himself so my dark blue wedding is out! lol

They have the option of putting pink, baby blue or white bows on the chairs and I must be honest, I never saw myself as a "baby blue" wedding person. So now I am thinking of more ivory or golden champagne colour. Maybe bringing organza or toole with us to decorate the chairs and white arch way ourselves.

It is so hard to be informal but still classy :)

So to finish my not questions post, Erika got in touch and was able to answer my questions. It seems that if you are having problems getting in touch get your travel agent to email the importance of your emails!

Thank you to all of your posts and anymore thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jamie,

I just got back from my wedding at RIU Vallarta on November 8th and Erika and Jessica met my very high standards. They got everything exactly how I wanted it. The Flamingo restaurant is good but slow. We had a sit down dinner for 34 people and it took a long time for them to bring out food. As far as the arch being white - you won't notice it in pictures. My dress was ivory and you can't tell. We did white bows on the chairs and it came out fine. By the time they put the arch up, you will be getting ready and you won't have time to do it unless you have a team of people who aren't getting ready themselves and are willing to do it for you.

Let me know if you have any questions. I can answer them and e-mail you my pics. I wasn't too happy with their photographer. The spa did a great job on my hair. I did take pics and they did exactly what I wanted.

Let me know if I can help!

Hi Jamie,

"I just got back from my wedding at RIU Vallarta on November 8th and Erika and Jessica met my very high standards. They got everything exactly how I wanted it."

Yeah!! That is great to hear :) I am very happy that your day went off so well...

"The Flamingo restaurant is good but slow. We had a sit down dinner for 34 people and it took a long time for them to bring out food."

Did you have the 7pm food service? Did you stay at the restaurant for long? Is there room for any dancing? We are bringing our own sound system and wanted to do the "reception" there after dinner as Erika said we could stay late.

"As far as the arch being white - you won't notice it in pictures. My dress was ivory and you can't tell. We did white bows on the chairs and it came out fine. I have ordered some fake flowers that are amazing to bring. With 39 guests, there better be someone will to help with me arch!! lol We are also bringing Tool for the chairs as my "colour" is royal blue.

I would love to see your pictures, if you want you can send them to me directly at el_nomada@hotmail.com

What time did you do your wedding? What was the weather like?

Thank you for your help!

Jamie

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
