Wow, I must say I really admire your efforts into the playlists. Honestly, though, I do not see myself doing this well AT ALL despite your wonderful advice -- I'm WAY too simple. So how much would it cost to get a DJ to do this for me?

No, I didn't have any problems with the volume. In truth, the whole sound board, mic and speakers were set-up by a professional DJ. We only needed to plug in our i-pod and let the playlists run. They color-coded the buttons we needed to press. I had one of my friends perpetrate MC and gave him this timeline to go by.

I had a professional DJ set-up and breakdown for $500. It was far more cost-effective than $300/hr with a 4 hour minimum.

I considered a DJ, but after contacting a few of them...we opted for the i-pod only. Many of the DJ's I contacted didn't have the music I wanted and I didn't see paying all that money when I was providing all of my own music. It worked out great, in the end. We got to hear all the music we wanted to. We saved ourselves almost $700 and....we didn't have to worry about transporting heavy stereo equipment from the mainland to our DW and back again.

Thanks for the response! So for $500 he mixed your music for you? What do you mean by "set-up and breakdown?"

We have covered many weddings to say the least! I would have to say that iPod is the way to go. It really is very simple and if you can't do it or are techi-challenged... Im sure you can find a friend who will help you out. It really is quite simple and you can make sure you have fantastic music at your wedding that you want to hear.

You may think that a professional DJ is the way to go... and they can be fantastic. But you have to remember they are complete strangers to you and it will take some time for them to adjust to what you want to hear. Good DJ's will have plenty of music and be able to make this happen for you... or you can line it up months before your wedding and it will be right the first time.

Music and make/break a fantastic evening. Have fun with whatever you decide.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
