I really haven't involved my FMIL at all...this thread has me thinking maybe I should. Although, it's pretty difficult since she lives in another province. I did send her pics of my dress and my MOHs dress...so maybe that's enough. I don't really need her to do anything..I've handled everything pretty much myself. My mom & MOH both live out of province also so I've been communicating ideas & pictures with them through email, but I didn't really think to include FMIL with all these details. She just went through her daughters wedding, so it's not like she's never done it before!! I think I'll just let her sit back & relax & enjoy the show!!

But if you are getting the feeling that she wants to be involved give her a DIY project to handle, or ask her to keep an eye out for this or that when she is out.

If you get the sense that your MIL is feeling that way, then she probably is. You can start inviting her with you to appointments or give her a smal task and an overview of your wedding planning.

As for me, I chose not to involve my MIL. Let's just say, its just best the less hands are in my planning. I wish you well.

I live in Texas, FMIL lives in Maryland so I created a photo album on picasa (google's online photo alnum) and I upload all my pics, inspirations, etc into that. She gets an email when I update the album and sometimes she emails me to comment. It works great!

My FMIL is so sweet and really wanted to be involved in as much stuff as she possibly could. My FI is an only child, so she's all over the wedding stuff. My mom, on the other hand, is a little bit of a control freak, which tends to be an issue when I invite FMIL to do things regarding the wedding. I invited her to go dress shopping with us and my mom had a fit! FMIL was crying when I was trying on dresses because she was so excited, so I'm really glad I included her in that. I'm also giving her control of picking out the grooms cake and of course the rehearsal dinner. We're still 6 months out, but i'm sure she'll be involved in a lot more than just that.

Thanks ladies. You guys made me laugh and have given me some good suggestions.

I have a fitting for my dress on tues (she lives an hour and a half away) but I think I will invite her just so she knows I would like her involved.

She's got lots going on and I think she just needs to feel that we want her around.

My mom lives out of the country so I have involved my FMIL a little more then I normally would I invited her to go dress shopping and invitation shopping and some other things but I have to admit when it comes to going somewhere that money is being exchanged I don't bring her since she is not paying I don't like her saying it is too much to spend. Honestly in the future I am involving her less and less

I guess I only skimmed the replies :) But I swear by this method - it keeps the FMIL involved since she cant go shopping with me. Plus, she can comment on ideas and give suggestions.

FMIL lives in the same city, but I haven't involved her at all. I think my mom is going to come visit me from CA a couple of months before my wedding and we are going to hang out with FMIL and get her more involved. We will show her my dress, have her help with some DIY, etc. I think she would really like to be more involved but contribute financially.

    • Hi everyone, I am so happy that I am getting married to the love of my life. He proposed me and we are getting married within in a couple of months. And I have started preparations for my big day. I am super excited about a lot of things and also worried about many things.I have some inhibitions about my face and skin. Since I am a working woman, I have never got much time for personal care. This is the right time for it now. I need  proper medical grade skin care. Want to improve my skin tone and texture  I read some details about it here, https://www.mcleanclinic.com/nonsurgical-procedures/non-surgical/skin-care/, and found it really helpful. Can anyone of you suggest me some more tips? Like what I can do at home to have a glow on my face?  Thanks in advance.
    • I think you should approach the dentist. That would be the best idea as of now.
    • I think that would be a great idea. I have tried it once and loved it.!
    • That's really sweet. I am sure she would love that.!!
