Struggling the feeling that my mother-in-law to be is feeling unappreciated and left out.

Just curious how much you girls involved your in-laws in the planning of the wedding or any important events? What did you involve them in if they were involved?

Help..thoughts and experiences please.

My MIL lives in Pittsburgh and I did not involve her in a lot. Actually, I did not involve her in anything! LOL She didn't seem to mind not being involved. I had my daughters help me more than anyone else and they grew bored with the whole thing very quickly! If she wants to be more involved, let her help with some of the DIY projects. She may just want to feel needed.

Unforetunately, my MIL died when my then boyfriend now husband were dating for only 9 months. I really wish she was around, I know she would have helped any way she could and there would have been a lot less family drama around the whole wedding.

I know that doesn't really answer your question but, I say if she wants to help, get her involved and be grateful that you have one! :)

My MIL and I are very close. When I first started planning we went to all of those wedding expos. We had fun looking at everything and the wine tasting. I send her alot of photos of what I have picked out and will have her help my FI pick his shirt.

Mine is not involved in ANYTHING because she is a prize twat!! The fact she has to turn up irritates me lol

In fact FI has told her to contact him if she wants anything because she is an interfering demanding cowbag lol oh and everything is about HER!!

Can you tell I can't stand her lol

God that feels better lol

We haven't involved her in very much, though she did involve herself by making us change our wedding date rant.gif No, in all seriousness, I really like FMIL.

I've ended up involving her by accident - I had issues with my first dress, so she came and looked at me in i t and gave her opinion and she came with me when I went to find my dress (2nd and last!). She also apparently wants to throw me a family shower. This is funny because my friends are throwing me one, but she wants to throw one for all the family and instead of just combining. It's probably for the best, because if my friends want any say in theirs they shouldn't combine! She tends to take over... :)

I love my FMIL. Last year they moved to the other side of the country and I miss her terrible.

She has been very involved in our planning. My FI put together a planning blog and I put together a web album of all the pictures/ideas I had to show her. (In my signature are links to all these things.) She is even planning on throwing me a shower which she is sooo excited about.

Basically there are 5 people besides me and FI who are involved in my wedding planning; my mom, my sis, FSIL, FMIL and BF. We plan on having a few togethers with these people to assemble invites, STDs, programs, etc. All have felt very involved, no complaints yet.

Hope that helps, Carla wink.gif

My FIL's are just happy to be going to Jamaica and not having to deal with an AHWedding/Reception. I dont really include my own mother in the wedding planning. Hehe - she's not type that wants to be in on everything I buy or decide on. I email her pictures of stuff.

FMIL and FI's cousins are planning my shower - limobus to Niagara-on-the-lake to do wine tours/lunch/get pissed.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
