I think we are calling off the wedding! :(

Okay, here's another suggestion. What about eloping and just doing a Justice of the Peace when you get back. Let everyone think you didn't have any sort of ceremony so they won't have anything to get upset about. Then, if you want to next Oct 2009 do a big thing in San Antonio for the family - if they are willing to help with expenses. I know a lot of families these days are very supportive of just going to the Justice of the Peace and saving money. It's just a thought.

I really think that eloping could be the best idea that anyone has suggested.

If this man is the love of your life, and if you are sure that you want to be with him forever, it is between you and him. Not your families.

Let them throw you a reception afterwards, at their expense and trouble.

Have your DW. Even if it is just the two of you.
I'm with Amy on this one! FI and I considered eloping, but my mom & I are too close to do that. If you feel this way too, what about you did it with just immediate family?? (parents only?) I think at this stage in the game you & FI have to sit down and discuss what it is that YOU want!! In the meantime, enjoy your girl time in Chicago & breath!! Try to not think about this (as hard as I know that will be!)
Good Luck!

Thanks again for all of your suggestions! smile03.gif

Fi and I returned yesterday from a quick visit to Las Vegas. My younger brother had his 30th bday so FI and I flew to Phoenix to surprise him. As soon as we got to his home I handed him his bday card that read, "The best way to celebrate your 30th Bday is to take a trip to Las Vegas! So pack your bags we need to be at the airport in 1 hour!!"

He was soo excited & we had a wonderful time!

I think that the change of scenery was good for FI and I too!!!

As far as an update with our situation, I don't really have one. We kinda took a break from all of our "talking". I've noticed that I'm not really stressing anymore. This is the man of my life. We are in love. Things will work out. Maybe I won't have the lavish wedding I envisioned but I'll have the man I envisioned and I'll take that!

Vegas must have been a blast. I am glad that you are not so stressed now. The talking will get better as it usually rough to adjust to the idea of changes in the planning. Just remember that this your day and do what you feel is right for you and your fiance.

That was a cool surprise! It sounds like you both needed a break & you had a great time in Vegas. Great that you're not stressed out & I totally love your attitude with what you said!!! Good luck!!!

I'm really sorry to hear that, I hope things get better for you.

It is really inspiring to read your thread, and even though you have been through some really tough times, at no point did you mention wanting to end your relationship - it shows how much you 2 are meant to be, and if you need to call of the wedding at this point, it isn't going to weaken your relationship!

good luck with whatever you decide

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
