Hey ladies-

My BF just got back from her 5 week honeymoon in the South Pacific. Here is her feedback. You can also see some pictures on saylorstacy.com under pictures.

Joy she did say Thalasso is the nicer of the two Intercontinetals.

See below her feedback she sent me while on her honeymoon.

"When you book in Tahiti, I would not stay at the Intercontinental Moorea, try the Pearl. Saylor and I went to InterC there, and ours was nicer... more quaint - and we did a private garden bungalow (we had our own plunge pool - private... very sexy). Overwater bungalows aren't as private, but a must in Bora Bora. There are a few NICE resorts to consider in Bora Bora. Of the two InterC's here, Thalasso is way nicer, and it is much newer, plus the spa is AMAZING and there is a dive outfitters here. You get to visit both as there is a boat that goes between the two resorts. Don't stay at Le Meridian. It's next door to us, and doesn't seem as nice? If you do want to do Starwood points, there is a St. Regis - looks super nice, but was closed during our stay for a "Hollywood movie"... so we never got to see it, though we wanted to go to a sushi restaurant there. There is also the Four Seasons - brand new... that's where Saylor wants to stay for our second trip (haha)... I'm kinda serious... Honestly let me know if that irks you - it's completely possible to not even run into us.... :) but, it would be sooo much fun!"

As you can see they loved it so much, they may join us on our honeymoon. We are so okay with that.

Hope this feedback helps. We will be going there May 24- June 4

YEah

hi! our plan is to stay in Cancun for our wedding, fly back to California, and then leave for Tahiti and Bora Bora the next day.

We're taking a month off work for our wedding and honeymoon. We originally planned on getting married in April and then honeymon in July, but we really want the "honeymoon" feel by going right after the wedding =)

travel as much as possible before kids! it seems so expensive to travel again after a destination wedding, but once you're at your destination you'll see that it's worth it!

ErikDaGenErik - Well, we're going on a very belated and pricey honeymoon in January to Costa Rica, so going to French Polynesia for our anniversary would be more like traveling 4 months after vacationing haha. But you're totally right - screw $ - if it isn't safe in the stock market, might as well spend it on vacation wink.gif before babies slow us down.

I think you are wise to go right after Mexico. Although I was on a high still hanging out with people 3 days after the wedding in Riviera Maya, when I got back to Cali I totally crashed and was sleeping like 10 hrs a night for a month. My husband thought I was sick, but it is b/c he didn't stress out and do all the planning for the past 8 months prior to the wedding! If we had gone to French Polynesia then, it would have been the PERFECT relaxing vacation for me before returning to work. Now that we're back in our routine, Costa Rica will be more like an exciting active honeymoon - but I still think I can use a relaxing one after that! Bring on more vacation!

Did you take unpaid leave? I tried to convince my husband that we should, but he is too dedicated to his job, heh. I would have been perfectly fine asking for it! Are you going anywhere else, or just relaxing before and after your wedding/honeymoon? And are you going to other islands besides Bora Bora? If so, where are you staying?

Hi Nylalany! We will be staying in Tahiti-main island for a couple nights when we arrive in the FP then staying the rest of the time in Bora Bora. My FI is one of those people who just wants to stay at 1 place for the duration of the vacation. we are planning on making our honeymoon a very relaxing vacation. we just want alone time which is why we are sooo looking forward to the OWBs. We just want to stay in and spend time with each other. we are planning a couple days where we do excursions to explore the island.

we travel often and do a lot of excursions, so we don't see the need to do everything in FP. Plus, that will give us a reason to come back next time! wink.gif

We have a LOT of hours accrued for vacation so we're pretty comfortable taking a month of. plus, i get a week of paid leave each calendar year so that helps a lot too! my boss actually told me that i should have my honeymoon right after my DW. i was planning on July due to work reasons, but the boss said i don't need to put work before my own wedding! he actually suggested taking 6 weeks off work! he said personal life comes first! hahah wow huh?

you're so lucky to have like 3 vacations in 1 year! what a colorful passport u must have! seriously though, money is money--- that could be earned back. memories and time together is soooo PRICELESS. would u rather be in debt for a few montsh from vacations or spend your life wondering "what if?" enjoy your traveling time as much as possible! everyone i talked to said to travel as maaaany times together cause kids will seriously slow your travel plans---even if u dont think they will! -- my 2 cents wink.gif

? 3 vacations in one year? how did you know that? i guess i went to aruba last january for a wedding (with my family), mexico for my wedding, and then a long wknd in sayulita, but i still haven't officially gone on honeymoon to Costa Rica! That is this coming January.

THEN i will hopefully convince my hubby to take another one. i do travel a lot but mostly to family affairs and for holidays. i have a 5 wks of vacation a year, but it gets largely used up to see family on the east coast. hoping they'll fly out here more next year, so that i can use vacation for vacation. anyhow, if i don't end up going to FP for an anniversary trip in may, i'd love to read your reviews!

Where in Costa Rica are you planning to go? I have been 5 times, my other BF is a wedding planner there. I love love love CR.

I have tons of suggestions for you, if you need them.

We are going to Bora Bora for 10 days, but in the middle we will travel. STill deciding on where else to stay. Any suggestionshuh.gif?

We are very active and can't wait to see all of Bora Bora. Though people do tend to use it as a relaxing vacation.

Hey does anyone mind if I ask how much they paid for Bora Bora. We are looking at 9 nights St. Regis plus airfare from LAX for $11,000 for both of us. Seems high, but I don't know. Any input would be so appreciated. We just started looking last night.

I would love not to pay that much any ideas of where to check into booking?

Thanks

Kathy

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
