Yeah my recent e-mails have been from Nina and I think that is who my fiance was speaking with. It could be a matter of her being new and not understanding, or as I said, men typically can't get these things straight... or maybe it's just mine. At least I have some clarification from others now on the way it is. Thanks Ladies.

I think we were trying for the Tropical package and also upgrading to the Blue Lagoon. Based on what you have all told me, you would get charged te extra per plate? I don't know why they didn't just tell us that it would be more cost effective to do it by booking the Carribean package. I find they don't seem to be very forthcoming with info. Perhaps it's b/c the resort is so new and they are on a huge learning curve. It's funny, the differences b/w the Carribean package and tropical package are definately not worth $400 to us: fruit basket, steamed wedding clothes, and continental breakfast. When you factor in the difference from $50 pp to $100 pp, I'll take those extra perks.

MOntegoBay09, Crazy!!!

I'm in NS also and am getting married the same day as you girl!!! Are you on the airtransat flight? or Air Canada? We don't have a whole lot of options from Halifax so there is a 50:50 that we'll be on the same flight. Random coincidence!!

On a side note. I have a Q for you all. I bought a dress this weekend, but now I'm second guessing the color. I bought it in Ivory with Silver beading. I have not seen the white with silver beading, but I'm sure it's similar. I liked the ivory, it's the one I tried on, and it's also the one in all the photos of the dress... SOLD. Then I started thinking of all the white linen that the hotel brochures talk about. Am I going to clash with the white linen that surrounds me? Should I just switch to the white? I have fairly dark skin and can probably wear either color. Thoughts?

Thanks
Natalie

I think I got most of my answers because I went down there and spoke to Charmaine in-person for an hour.... It seems like it does take a lot longer to get an answer via email.

I also asked about doing that same thing (getting the Tropical Package and upgrading to the private reception at Blue Lagoon), and Charmaine told me that by doing that, you'd have to create a set menu.

Blue Lagoon is only open for breakfast and lunch, so that's the only way you can have it for dinner. And the set menus for a private dinner outside of the Caribbean package would be much more expensive than $50/person.

Wow, who would've thought we'd both be from NS and getting married on the same day in Montego Bay?? Crazy! Our flight is on the AirTransat. We booked with Sunquest and I think they buy seats off Air Transat.

A side note on the dress color...I was reading a thread a while back where a bride was questioning her ivory dress as well cause her fiance was wearing a white shirt and she thought it would clash. People posted lots of pics of the white on ivory and you couldn't even tell at all. I'm sure it will be fine! Good luck and happy planning! Maybe I'll see you at the airport!

I'll post the link if I find it again.

  • 2 weeks later...

When we met with Charmaine, she said it would be a total of $50pp(over 8-which includes the bride & groom so actually over 6) with the Caribbean package that INCLUDES the dinner. The menus for the dinner look awesome and she stated that you can choose 2 entrees as long as they know the number of each in advance. We were quote $300 to rent out the blue lagoon, although I must say their prices seem to change quite frequently.

Yep, that's the same as I was quoted when I signed my agreement.

Hi Girls

I am going with Caribbean Package & with over 8 ppl (including bride & groom) it's extra $50 per person. That's the quote I got. Plus $300 to have ether Blue Lagoon or Poseidon restaurant. Mind you Poseidon is not even private, there will be other's at the restaurant. There was a miscommunication, as I thought that $300 extra is if I book with packages other then Caribbean.

I only agreed to this terms and I am taking all of my e-mails with me, in case they want to charge me more then $50 per extra person.

I had the funniest quote the other day; they want me to pay US $250 to play my own CD at the restaurant, because the restaurant is not equipped with music. LOL

That's is crazy... What about bringing along an iPod and sound dock? Surely they can't charge you for that?!

I'm awaiting confirmation from Jascynthia on the per person cost on the meal. I spelled it out pretty clearly and will let you know when (and if) I hear anything...

The way it was explained to me, you don't have to pay the extra $300 to have it at Poseidon-- it's the "beach restaurant" included in the Caribbean package. The $300 is to change to another restaurant like Blue Lagoon.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
