Hey Grand Palladium Brides, there seems to be many of us on this forum now. Some getting married really soon, some just starting the planning process.

I'm hoping that we can collaborate together and compare ideas.

My fiancé and I are getting married in April and have the date booked, but other than that, we do not have a master plan. So far 36 people are booked and I can't imagine we'll get much more than that.

We just found out today after speaking with Charmaine that the packages refer specifically to the ceremony and the reception is a separate deal all together. The price at the bottom of each page (Tropical, Caribbean, Romantic etc.) only qualifies for the fee per person for this (i.e. the cost of the cake and champagne). If you have a private reception at either the Poseidon or Blue Lagoon you must pay between $70-60 in addition to the $50 per person that you paid for the ceremony. To rent the Blue Lagoon restaurant and have the Romance package for the wedding ceremony you are potentially looking at $120 pp (above 8ppl) + $300 to rent the facility + any other extras.

Has anyone else been given this info? I know at the bottom of the sheets it says "price is subject to change without notice". Just want to make sure we are not getting chumped. wtf.gif

In saying this, it was my fiancé that was speaking to her today. Although reliable, he is a male after all!

Looking forward to sharing some good wedding planning info.

Welcome NBro!

That's totally different from what I understood from my conversation with Charmaine in September.... You're scaring me!! sad.gif

Here's how I get it: The package prices cover everything at that particular level, for 8 people. The additional people incur the per-person charge. The bigger packages incur the higher per-person charges up to the Caribbean package's $50/person including dinner.

The only way you'd have to pay an additional per-person charge is if you pick a package that doesn't include dinner and you decide to host a private dinner as an add-on. Charmaine said that those packages are more expensive than the $50/person charge.

Hopefully Caroline or one of the other GPJ brides can help to clarify, because I was definitely not budgeting $120/person for my reception.....sad.gif

Hello All,

I am getting married at the GPJ on July 10, 2009. I am under the same assumptions as Petals, where the $50 pp includes ceremony and reception dinner. I am planning on renting out the Blue Lagoon for 4 hours which is $400, plus $50 pp for each person above 8.

I really hope that it is not $120 pp b/c I definitely didn't budget that amount.

It seems as though $50 pp for the ceremony is completely ridiculous. All they need to do is set up some chairs and it only lasts 15 minutes!!

It had better be the same as petals understands it! Or my wedidng party will be dining AI on the evening of our wedding! $120pp?!! Not happening...

The Caribbean Package covers the meal for 8 people. Anyone in excess of that is at $50 a head. Now we don't have a signed contract to support that but that's how it's going to go... wink.gif

Exactly! The other way just doesn't make sense. We need to find out what the deal is from the new coordinator.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
