Any Mom's on the Board?

Recommended Posts

I am a MOB....my daughter is getting married in Vegas next July and I am helping her since she lives accross the country, works two jobs and is not on the computer much. This board has been unbelievably helpful!

Any other moms that are REALLY involved in the wedding planning? So far I am making the invitations, menus, OOT bags, centerpieces..etc. Of course I get the kids' stamp of approval before I make any decisions. They have been really good about my being so involved.

Thanks for all the great ideas...I'm sure I'll be racking up the points in the next several months!

I joined as a mother of the bride for my daughter's wedding last May.

My daughter was already living with her FI when they got engaged so he was part of the planning process too. We all sat down together and decided on a destination wedding. Then they chose a resort and he made all the arrangements with the travel agent, mainly because he works in the same building so could drop in when he needed information or just to see how things were going.

The three of us designed and put together a combination engagement party invite (that my husband and I hosted), wedding invite and travel arrangements. I know this combination wouldn't have been my first choice but it was what they wanted to do.

I did the OOT bags but Katie designed the logo and gave approval to all my purchases (bags, mugs, pashminas, candles, etc.) and I suspect everything was run by her FI :)

Katie for the most part was pretty laid back about the details, maybe because she just didn't have time, but more likely because she's not a detail oriented person. She let the resort take care of everything and just went with the flow once she got there. There were a few things I suggested but they just weren't part of their plan so I sat back, took deep breaths, and let them do it there way.

Good luck with the planning and welcome to the forum.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
