Playacar Palace 2009 & 2010 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi girls...I'm getting married at Aventura Spa Palace in July...part of the Palace chain...also never been there, but a friend got married at Moon Palace and loved it. Just so you know, on the Palace website you can check dates and times of weddings...I always like to know how many weddings will be on my day...we are getting married on a Thursday so hopefully there won't be too many, and right now it's still just us :)

Just thought you guys might like to check it out...

Good luck with all your planning! I hate how there aren't too many of us Palace brides (except for MP)...they all seem gorgeous!

Hi Kennynicole,

Sorry...I haven't been on here in a while!!! Have had no idea where I want to have our wedding!! Arrugh!

Have you decided on the exact resort yet? My travel is Jennifer...haven't worked with her much yet, as I am STILL trying to pick a resort!! Did you get a travel agent yet? If not, here is her email:

[email protected]

Is anyone qualifying for the group promotions? If so, which ones? And was it super hard to get guests to book as part of the group rather then them going off to sites like expedia and booking at a cheaper rate? How were you able to sway guests away from doing that?

Thanks!!

Emily

Hi Girls,

Reading all of you posts, most of you are all ready married or will be soon. I was hoping someone could help me, I really LOVE the Playacar palace but I am getting mixed reviews on the beach area, can anyone shed any light on this situation and maybe even post or PM me some pictures. We will have about 75 people ALL BEACH LOVERS! I can't chose a place that doesn't even have a beach! wink.gif

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum but am very excited to be getting married at the Playacar Palace. We're booked for February 12, 2010. Since we just signed the contract a week ago I don't have much info but will be sure to pass on any information I get.

In response to some of the previous posts:

From what I've received from the PP there are two ceremony sites. A terrace that can accommodate up to 35 people and then a patio location that has a minimum of 40 people/max 100.

I have a friend who stayed at the PP. She said the beach is small but there's still plenty of room to play with the kids, etc. I'm not sure there are any chairs on the beach but I'm sure you could spread some towels, etc.

Based on a review from a PP bride on Trip Advisor, we opted for the free wedding package and plan to do a private function reception. From the pictures the Palace sent us, it looks like this should give us the ambiance we're looking for.

Hope that helps! I'm looking forward to getting assigned to a WC so we get more information soon.

We've stayed at two Palace resorts before and love the level of service and quality of everything associated with the hotel (food, booze, included trips, rooms - everything is great!). I don't think anyone could go wrong selecting the Palace for their wedding.

Here are some pics of the beach area. These were taken in July at around 3 PM. Not sure when the tide comes in or out, but you can tell by the wall that there are times there is no beach at all.

Don't mind me in the shot...this is the entire beach area in front of the resort. All the chairs were taken when we got there...

Hi greshle, I too am getting married at the PPP. We were jsut there is Sept for a site visit. The hotel is beautiful, the service is great and the food is wonderful for an all inclusive.

The beach is very small, but there!!! I asked my WC what the story is with it and he said it depends on the time of year. However, a 2 minute walk over to the other side of the ferry dock there is a beach club.

The location of the property is so close to eveything.

Wedding Locations: I personally didn't like the wedding terrace, the view is amazing but the room that is on it makes it feel dark and closed in...also, 35 people is the MOST and even then , may be tight. I chose to have my ceremony on what they call the North Solarium, my cocktail party on the cielo lounge terrance and the reception also on the North Solarium... Let me know if you have any additional questions, maybe I can help! I know it is fusturating bc there arent may brides that have gotten married at the Playacar Palace.

Hi Tanya,

These are great details to know, thank you! I wondered about the wedding terrace.. I read some reviews about it being dark and somewhat dingy looking. I will email my WC about the option to use the North Solarium instead. I wasn't sure how flexible PPP would be with these details if we only had 25 people (our guests are still booking travel and haven't fully RSVP'ed). We were also looking to do a private reception outside so perhaps the North Solarium is big enough for both the ceremony and reception to be co-located. Did you meet with the on-site WC? I have a WC based out of the Miami sales off and am a little confused if she's really the right person to help with our questions and details.

I'll be sure to post additional details as we learn more. Our wedding (Feb 2010) is right around the corner but we're trying to be laid back with many details and have been told it will be easy to nail down details with the on-site WC when we arrive at the resort.

Glad to know there are others like me wondering the same questions. Thanks!

Jen

Hi Jen~ I am not sure about the amoutn of people, but I can't see why you wouldn't be able to have it someplace other than the wedding terrace. The North solarium will def be big enough for both, I am just not so sure how they would flip the area from ceremony to reception, bc you can only have buffet outside so it may too much work to be doing while your guests are tight there, maybe you could have your ceremony in the north solarium and the reception in the south solarium.

I did meet with the on-site WC, he was very nice and answered all questions, there are a few WC that work between a few properties, but if you signed your contract and your date is booked, they probably already assigned your WC, It couldn't hurt to ask...I have a lot of information, bc we went for a site visit and then my parrents went for a visit this past week, so combined, we have received so much information, please let me know if you have any questions, I will try to help you.

Happy Planning!

Hi Tanya,

I just emailed my WC today but I'm not sure how helpful she will be with specific details. She seems to be more on the contract side of things than the on-site property WC. One of my most pressing questions is related to a photographer. I know we have to use a photographer from the palace but I'm a bit picky and would like some time to look at samples of their work and pricing. By any chance do you have information on the specific photographer and prices? I've seen the general photography package pricing but I'm not sure how that works with the photographers we have to choose from (or maybe we don't get to choose....).

We're also looking for information on the specific days of the week that the tours are offered. As a gift to our guests we were going to plan a day trip to Cozumel but I want to make sure the day we pick doesn't overlap with the popular tours through the palace like Chitiniza. Do you still have the brochure from the Palace with the days of the week the tours are offered? If so, is there an easy way you could pass this information to me?

Any chance you went to Cozumel while you were there for your site visit? If so, do you have any fun suggestions for things we could do with our guests?

I can't thank you enough for your help!

Jen

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
