Hi everyone! I did a search but I couldn't find this...

I am considering PP for my guests to stay at (we're getting married at Al Cielo) and I'm wondering about the beach...The actual sandy beach part looks amazing, but has anyone recently been swimming in the ocean there? Are there any rocks? The reason I ask is because I visited The Royal in August, and from the resort and pictures, the beach looked lovely, but once I walked to the edge of the water, there were tons of rocks/coral/seaweed. The guy who gave us the tour said that if you want to swim in the ocean you have to walk down aways to get in...of course, I never would have known from the pictures...I'm a big beach person, so I want to be able to swim in the ocean :)

Thanks mucho!

You can hire the fire dancers through the wedding coordinator at the resort, and they cost about $900 or so for 30 minutes. I think they can do more or less too, I specifically asked for 30 minutes.  It was SO worth the money. My guests were absolutely amazed by them, they are so talented. It added a really unique surprise to my wedding. I highly recommend.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi Ladies,

We just got back from our wedding at the PP.  I will do a full plannning and review in the weeks to come, but I just wanted to let you know that you have NOTHING to worry about, everything was perfect and everyone at the palace is amazing!!  We had 70 guests and not 1 could find something wrong!!!

Please feel free to ask questions, I will do my best to answer all of you.

Happy Planning!

Tanya

Hi Tanya,

First of all...Congratulations!  I'm so happy to hear your wedding was a success.  My wedding is 2 weeks from tomorrow and I'm really excited after hearing your wedding went so well.  What did you end up doing for centerpieces?  I know you said you were going to go to WalMart and see what they had for hurricanes.  Did they have anything worth using?  Also, which package did you purchase and what did you do about music for the ceremony and cocktail hour?  I have so many questions...any info would be great!  Thanks and congrats again!

Congrats Tanya!  I'm so glad things went well for you!  This makes me very relieved because I'm starting to get nervous with the lack of communication I have recieved thus far (as well as the lack of effort I'm getting from my travel agent...so far i've found a better price on EVERY flight he's quoted us..grrr!!  But that's a totally separate issue so I wont get into that.  haha)

Just wondering, at what point did the wedding planner get a hold of you?  Our wedding is in early May 2011 (so 6.5 months from now) and I haven't received any contact with any wedding planner yet.  Not sure if I should be worried about that or not?

Also, we will have about the same number of guests as you, so I'm wondering what kind of a deal you got on the rooms (cost per night for single/double etc occupancy)?  Our travel agent quoted us on a marked-up "deal" (yes...he marked up our deal from the resort so that in a 7-day stay our guests would only actually be getting a $60 discount on the total cost) so I have no idea what the resort actually quoted us prior to his mark up).  If I can find good enough information via such ladies as you (and others on this forum!) I will be bypassing his "help" and getting things done on my own, but I need to have some basis as far as prices to bring to his attention.  Also, did you get your 7-free room nights b/c of the number of guests you got?

I really appreciate you taking the time to answer these questions!!  If you dont feel comfortable posting any of your answers publicly feel free to send me a private message!! :)

Thanks!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
