Hi there ~ regarding the deluxe category rooms; when we were there in January, we looked at one of the "Deluxe" rooms and there was no actual balcony.... instead, kind of a "sliding glass door" that you could open to a narrow ledge that had a railing. There was no actual place to "step onto" but you could at least have fresh air. Some of the deluxe rooms may have more of a balcony, but the one that we viewed didn't (although I can see how the hotel could get away with calling it a balcony.....since technically, it had a sliding door). It had a very nice ocean view though!

steph71- I love your website. I'm also using wedding window and it looks like we're using the same travel agent company as you too!

It's good to hear from someone on this site that's been to the resort. The reviews on TripAdvisor have not been very good lately and I was starting to worry. Are you doing the group booking? I wanted to just have everyone book separately, but it's looking like we might actually be able to get up to 25 rooms, and there are so many perks with that!

Hi Kurlyks,

I'm happy you liked the website - I really enjoyed working on wedding window - they let you do so much customization! And that's great that you are working with All About Honeymoons... I am actually a Travel Agent with them as well (so I know you are ingood hands).... and yes, I did the group booking!! If you thikn you will book at least 75 total room nights, that's the only way to go.... you'll have your room paid for, as well as unlimited free events! It really is one of the best deals around. I have some pics from our visit in January if you'd like me to send them to you!?

Sorry Steph,
I am snooping on your post. I was there last September, but I love seeing other girls pics...Could you send them to me too? wink.gif
Have any of you ladies decided what you are doing for music. Gilberto got me in touch with a DJ, but I cant find any reviews about them.

steph- that would be great if you could send me the pictures. I just found out my TA is going there next week so I should get some good info from him when he gets back. Today marks the 1-year countdown, so I'm getting really excited!

These photos were taken in early January of 2010 - just as the beach renovation project was starting.... so the beach photos don't reflect the NEW and IMPROVED beach! :)

Great Pics Steph! Thanks for sharing! In the pic with the centerpieces, what is the story w that, are they the ones that they are charging for or that other brides left behind? I was hoping to do my own, and planned on buying the vases at walmart, but the tall ones in the pic are exactly what I need, without the stuff inside of course!

Hi Everyone, I am getting married at the Playacar Palace this September 5th, and I am doing a site visit over 4th of July weekend to pick out locations and come up with ideas. I decided that its not worth worrying and wondering what the resort is like, and also trying to imagine where the wedding and reception will be. I think its also easier for the coordinator there if you can just go and pick stuff out while you're there. I should be having about 50-60 people at the wedding and I doing the Emerald package. I am still not sure what color to have for bridesmaid dress. Anyone else doing Emerald? I'd love to hear your ideas. I am considering doing a mariachi trio for the end of the ceremony and having a salsa band and possibly fire dancers, but I first want to check with the resort to see what their nightly entertainment is. It seems kind of silly to provide entertainment that the resort is already providing while my guests are there.

I am glad there are more people posting to Playacar thread now, it does seem by this forum that not many people get married there relative to other resorts. I'm guessing because its smaller than the others and offers less onsite amenities. It looks beautiful though and I like the idea of it being a more intimate setting for guests. Also the wedding coordinator told me that while I'm there on the 4th of July weekend there are 2 weddings on Saturday and 1 on Sunday, so there are definitely doing a lot of weddings.

I will be happy to report back everything I can here after July 4th.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
