To do, or not to do, that is the ?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have two details I am trying to decide on and I need some opinions.

First is the hard one. The place I am staying has a 20 foot cliff set in a garden that overlooks the ocean which is a popular site to get married. However, I always wanted a barefoot beach wedding. I can choose between the two, but have heard that the wind is a factor on the beach with people being able to hear (but I am a small group of 10-12) and other things that make it a pain in the butt. Any advice or experience with this that should sway me one way or the other?

Also, I have saved all dried rose petals from all of the flowers my fiance has given me over the last 5 years and wanted to incorporate them somehow. I was thinking maybe I would package some for each guest and have us all throw them over the cliff into the ocean together (not sure if this would be a hazard or not allowed- I wouldn't think so) I would think it would make for a beautiful experience but how would I go about setting that up, or should I cut it out all together?

What do you guys think?

I like the idea of the cliff, but the beach is beautiful too, I think its a matter of personal preference. If dreams didn't have a beautiful gazebo overlooking the ocean, I'd do the beach, but I think the gazebo is so pretty and if I was getting married where you are, I'd do the cliff.

I think the rose petals are a very nice idea, I would check with the resort to make sure they wouldn't have a problem with it and then maybe get some little favor boxes or organza bags to put the petals in. you could have the packages in a basket as people came into the ceremony location and maybe attach a little note about what they will be used for.

Wow! I'm such a sap. That flower petal thing is a big deal. My mom had a big glass covered box that she had kept rose petals in it from my dad for 14 years. Somehow it got water in it and they all got ruined. She was devastated. Anyhow, I think that you throwing them is very symbolic and will probably be very special. What a neat idea. I don't have any help for you though on the rules on that stuff

I totally love the beach also but I def think you should do the clifftop ceremony. It sounds wonderful and the scenery will be amazing. Plus everyone gets married on the beach, it's nice to do something different. Also I know you have a small amount of guests but do you want wind blowing sand all over the place? I say do it on the clifftop you won't regret it. And it's not like you can't go down to the beach after the ceremony and get great pics on the beach.

As far as the rose petals go, I say do it! It is such a nice idea. Just ask the place if they will allow this which I don't see why they wouldn't. You can pacakge them in clear little baggies and tie a ribbon around them with a little card insert that tells your guests about the rose petals. I think guests will love it. That is such a nice romantic touch!

These are $4.95 per dozen. This is just to give you an idea of what you could do.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
