We are doing our rehearsal dinner at the Puerta Vieja. It's a really nice restaurant and the view from the top floor is beautiful. The general manager is very nice and accomodating. We are doing a low-key fajita bar and serving margaritas, mojitos and beer. Our price per person is $52 with tax and tip. They are also providing a guitarist at no cost.

Hi Kay,

This is Jessica. So you are having the welcome dinner at Puerta Vieja too! wow-- we have the same ideas for our wedding and reception. Too bad FA is all booked-- even the Whale Terrace--for our wedding day. We are going with the Sheraton. It is highly recommended by our photographer Juan. Thank you again for all your help. If there is anything you need please let me know.

I am having the exact same setup as Kay is for my wedding on May 12, 2007-puerta vieja for rehearsal dinner on the upper terrace, then wedding at fiesta americana at the Imperial Suite. My planner is with sunset weddings, and they have arranged a fajita buffet for $26 per person, then $19 per person national bar (meaning only mexican liquor, beer, etc).

Jessica - My friend got married at the Sheraton last year and loved it! Good luck with the rest of the planning.

Maria - We ARE having identical events! The weird thing is my birthday is May 12th. Are you working with Carla from Sunset? She's been my point person for planning, but Beth will be there for the day of coordination. So far, they've been great to work with. I will be really curious to hear how everything goes for you... let's definitely share notes.

Kay-How coincidental about your birthday! My planner is Christina from Sunset Weddings, met Beth when fiance and I were in Cabo in Feb. finalizing details. If you have any questions, let me know-I did a tasting at the Fiesta, the food and presentation were awesome!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
