Hi everyone,

I just registered yesterday and already I need your help. blush2.gif

My fiance and I want to plan our destination wedding for July 2009 and hope to have aproximately 20 people come along with us. We plan to stay in an AI with our guests BUT we DO NOT want to have our wedding at an AI. It is important to us (mainly me) that our wedding be intimate and private so I am looking for smaller hotels, villas, or private locations for us to have the wedding. I was hoping that you lovely ladies might be able to make some recomendations of places that would fit this description that are relatively close to AI's. We were intially thinking Jamaica and I love the idea of Tensing Pen but I am worried that the AI's in Negril are $$. I would like to stay within the $1500 per person range for my guests. I am also interested in Mexico...

Any suggestions, advice, guidance is much appreciated. I am one very clueless bride right now. I really don't know where to start.

THANKS!!

Welcome to the forum! thewave.gif

I am actually getting married at a non AI location in Akumal, a small but beautiful town on the Riviera Maya. It's a private venue and really lovely! I am planning on posting all my wedding details later today ~ if you don't see the thread, PM me!!

Welcome!

i stayed at the Gran Bahia Riviera Maya Akumal... I had my wedding there and it actually was quite private... however I understand your concerns. There are a LOT of beautiful places down in the Riviera Maya (such as Tulum or Akumal) that would be beautiful for a private wedding. The Riviera Maya also tends to be cheaper for your guests than the Carribean.

Best of luck and congratulations on your engagement!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
