Do I have to put my parents name on the invites?

Recommended Posts

So my Dad is pretty much paying for the wedding, but he says if it's proper not to put parents names on the invites, he would rather not because both of us have divorced parents and that puts our step parents in a weird position. I agree, but I don't want to not put their names if it is not proper. I have looked at wedding etiquette websites and they don't really address this specific issue. What do you guys think?

I didnt put our parents names on the invites. My parents are divorced, mom remarried and stuff. I didnt want to deal with all that. So I just put our names (however we were mainly paying for it). But I did read a bunch of wording that said the brides name & grooms name with "together with our parents/family..." That pretty much covers everyone.

i have divorced parents and was uncomfortable putting all the parents names.

instead what we did was use wording "together with their parents" and then our names so that it still mentioned parents but didnt get into specifics.

I did not put our parents names either - but we are paying for the majority of the wedding ourselves. I think in your case, because your dad is paying for it then you should include "together with their parents".

What I don't like (sorry if any of you have it!) is when it reads "mr. & mrs. x invite you to the wedding of their daughter jane x to joe y son of mr & mrs y"...even if the x's are paying for the wedding!! (sorry...just a pet peeve of mine!) Our friends invites read like that...wouldn't it make the grooms family feel shitty??

we just put our names. being that we are over 30, completely independent from our parents, and with all the step-parent things, plus doug was married before and already did the invites with all the parents names back in the day, we just decided to go with our own names. it was OUR wedding, afterall :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
