A friend of mine is going to introduce us to 2 designers she knows and then hopefully one of them will be interested in helping us out. We haven't met with either one of them yet though so I'm not sure who we'll be going with. The designer will likely just give us the file on a disk and then we'll get the posters printed at Kinko's or something. These 2 individuals are free-lancers who do designs for event promotions and magazines etc, so they aren't really in the invite/stationary business :)

My best friend just got married and she had so much fun designing all of her wedding materials (save the dates, invites, table cards, etc.) that she's going to branch out and start doing it for other couples. She's looking for a few couples to start with to build her portfolio.

I should mention that she has been an award winning graphic designer for more than 15 years.

I hope it's kosher to post this, but it's a really great offer. Feel free to contact me for her info. I have photos of all her stuff and it's lovely :)

Ugh!! I've been trying to find an invitation I like online and so far I've been striking out. My FI wants a traditional invitation and not a passport or boarding pass type. I'm thrilled he wants to be involved b/c its a complete 180 degrees from 2 years ago.

Thanks for the links in this thread ladies. I will start looking once again!! lol!!

I hope you post these when you have them done! My FI loved the idea when we saw it online and want to send out engagement announcements in this style.

I will definitely post them when they're done! We probably aren't sending our invites out until Jan though so it might be a little while before they're finished. We haven't met with the designers yet.

I know exactly how you are feeling. My FI and I spent hours looking on-line but could never come up with the perfect invite. There were some that we liked but they did not come in any fun colors. So we found one that we liked but did not come in fuschia and we went to our local printing shop and they are going to design it for us. Of course they will change a few things but it is going to be exactly what we want and at 1/2 the price of going through an on-line invite company. The also printed our STD's and did a great job.

I had the same problem -- I think I spent a million hours looking for wedding invitations online and another million hours looking in stores in person...I drove myself crazy. Then I finally Kenzie Kate. My camera is broken so I can't post pictures of my invites but they look pretty similar to the two below...

She was really great to work with and super flexible! Also, FYI...she has a blog that she updates daily that I've become obsessed with -- great wedding related info -- you should check it out if you can!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
