OK, here's some pictures and info that I will share so far. I'll be sure and post more stuff later!

 

Brian and I are getting married on May 23, 2007 on Magen's Bay Beach in St Thomas. Our reception will be held on Carnival night at Iggie's Beach Bar on Bolongo Bay Beach in St. Thomas. It will be FUN!!! The reception entertainment will be a steel drum band, stilt walkers, fire eaters and Caribbean dancers.

 

My engagement ring that I LOVE!

 

My very non-traditional wedding dress!! Although I just bought a more traditional dress off of Ebay (shopping addict!!) so if the dress I got on Ebay fits nice enough (you can never tell sometimes!) I'll wear that one and will wear this at my reception (because it'll be easier to get around the reception venue with this one!).

 

Sandals for the reception. Will go barefoot for the ceremony.

 

Bridal Purse. I may be modifying the decoration in the center, but am not sure. I may just leave it as is! (Beaded Cluster Framed Evening Bag ,Target)

 

Ok, I have a ton more pictures, but don't want to overload you guys!

Hey Jessica. I'm pretty late in chiming in, but I just wanted to welcome you to the forum. I was originally going to get married in St. Thomas, but it ended up being too expensive for us, but that was my dream location... so even if it didn't, tell me that it sucked just to make me feel better!!

 

lol... ok, I don't want your wedding to suck! I'm really excited for you - and I want you to post more pictures... I'm ok with a picture overload!!!! I LOVE that dress.

Nini_Bride - haha! Actually St Thomas was totally not my first choice. I had big dreams.. like Fiji or Hawaii and that was too expensive for us. We even looked at the Bahamas and that was still a little more than we wanted to spend. St. Thomas was the least inexpensive location we could find (especially plane ticket wise. From the east coast ticket prices were great!)

lol - hmm, maybe I should have re-thought my location?! Lol, nah I'm actually happy with Mexico... but I definately want to see your wedding pictures (in only TWO months, woohoo!) when you get back. I loved St. Thomas when I was there last year - what a great place for a wedding!

 

** As a side note... I think you're probably the best "noob" I've ever seen! You just started today and you dove right into this forum. I saw you've made a few other posts, you're really helpful and freindly... it's definately awesome to have people like you join the forum!

May I ask where in St. Thomas you visited last year? Where did you stay, how was it, etc.

 

I've actually never been. I'm relying on my wedding coordinator, pictures and reviews!

I was actually there when I was on a cruise, so we were only there for a few hours, but in those few hours I completely fell in love. Everyone there was so friendly, and I felt safe to go off the beaten path without having someone mug me! It was really clean, and really nice. Again though - we were only there for a few hours, so I'm probably not the best person to ask since I only saw bits and pieces.

 

At that point I wasn't engaged yet, but I knew I was going to be soon so I kept every location we visited on that cruise (incl. St. Lucia, Grenada and 3 or 4 other locations) and St. Thomas was my favourite.

 

As for hotels, I was looking at the Wyndham when I was thinking of booking because I know they don't have very many AI resorts there. That's about when I found this forum and changed my mind to Mexico though.. so I don't know too much more. Where are you staying?

 

Anyways, I did do some research before I switched locations, so if you have any questions (even though your wedding is sooo close! ), just let me know - I couldn't bring myself to delete my notes!!

Nini - Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm glad to hear what you saw of the island was impressive! We are not doing the resort thing just because that route was a bit pricey for us. We are renting a private vila for us (we are staying there for our honeymoon as well - and island hopping to St. John and possible one of the British VI's). The villa is like a studio apt with it's own pool and deck. I think it'll be great! We can also do some grocery shopping for those times we don't feel like eating out.

 

Our guests are staying at smaller hotels on the island and villas.

 

The Wyndham looks amazing though!
