Wedding Band Prices

Recommended Posts

Good morning everyone!

My FH and I got in to a "heated discussion" let's say last night about the price of the wedding band I'm getting custom made to match my engagement ring. I was quoted $1500 for the band and maybe it's because I'm all hopped up on painkillers this week, but it didn't occur to me to bargain with the jeweler who is making it.

I'm not going to lie, $1500 is more than I wanted to pay, but if I love it and have to look at it forever, it may as well be something I'm in love with, right? I feel like I'm crazy!! My FH, being the practical guy that he is, doesn't see spending that kind of money on a wedding band (piece of jewelry to him...ha!) as being practical. Needless to say we kind of had a big blowout about it.

He's over it now but it got me wondering, how much are you all spending on your wedding bands ladies? Surely there must be someone who sees my point of view on this! lol

What does your ring look like? We also got ours custom made also. Mine is set in white gold and is going to match my ering. It will have a pair diamond on each side with 11 diamonds around each pair and three round diamonds which will be under my main center stone of my ering. FI ring is polished white gold with 4 diamonds and we paid $1600.

I went to the same jeweler my FI went to to make my ering. My wedding band will have channel set diamonds on each side of the top of the band and is set in 14k white gold. I didn't specify how many diamonds I wanted, so maybe that's where I went wrong. He drew for me exactly the band that I was looking for/had in mind so I guess I kind of jumped in to it. sad.gif

Our wedding bands were exactly what we both wanted ... but they were an investment for us. Mine was about $2800 and his was about $1000. However, my e-ring was stolen so I am only wearing my band - so it is more intricate than some.

We were both fine with the prices we paid, but it's also relative, based on your budgets, etc.

Well I figured since I thought I was paying for it (this was my idea) that it wouldn't be a problem for him.

So then he tells me he was thinking about paying for it before I went and picked out a $1500 ring. Would be nice if he would verbalize his thoughts more often lol. Oh well, I told him if I feels bad for not paying for it because it's too expensive then he can pay for part of it. Doesn't make a difference to me. We didn't have a budget but he figured I would have the good sense to question the jeweler. I even asked my FI to come with me and he said no....this is exactly why I wanted him to come with me though! lol

LoL, poor girl. You can tell him though that Francis' ring cost us $2000, and it was custome made. Plus, if you really want him to think $1500 isn't a lot of money, you can tell him the cost of my set: my e-ring cost us $12,000 [1.1k solitaire in the middle with 10 diamonds on the sides] and my wedding band is sitting at around $5000 [16 diamonds].

I had no idea that they cost that much- Francis bought them without me [he had my input on what I wanted] and when we went to go take out extra house insurance on them, I nearly lost my marbles when I found out their cost.

My e-ring was about $800 (.30 carat) and my band (I think ) was about $650. Yellow gold. I love them. :)

FI's band (yellow gold) was $190. I got it for a steal on a great site called Pompeii3.

So I guess I"m not helping! I'd love to see Heather's set, btw! I'm dying to see what $17,000 on your finger looks like. smile123.gif I think I'd be very nervous wearing that much though!

Here are pics of ours:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
