Linens N' Things Closing Up Shop

Recommended Posts

I cannot really say I am surprised given the boom of Bed Bath and Beyond, Home Sense etc. but I received an email today from LNT saying that they announced today that they were going into liquidation.

I spoke to head office who confirmed that all stores in Canada and the US are closing. If you are registered there (like I am)! she suggested that you either move your registry to another "retailer" whatever that means or buy the stuff you want now.

I gather that they aren't going to be open for too much longer - the store near me said they thought they would be open for a week to liquidate assets!

Hey everyone! We have our registry at Liens n Things and they just sent me an email saying the following:

"Today, October 16, 2008, Linens â€n Things announced that the company is entering into liquidation. This announcement pertains to both the US and Canadian stores, as well as LNT.com and will commence liquidation on Friday, October 17, 2008.

In light of this announcement, we wanted to advise you that you should either purchase any remaining items on your registry or relocate your registry to another retailer.

Our stores will remain open for a short period of time to liquidate inventory. Both the 10% off announcement cards and 20% off completion discount will no longer be valid effective Friday, October 17, 2008.

In this exciting time in your life we understand that your registry and wedding are very important to you, and we regret that our company issues have led to this situation."

I am guessing that after today they won't except gift cards either...since that is normal protocol when a store is liquidated. My FI and I have a remaining gift card from my Bridal Shower and we rushed to our nearest Linens n Things to go and buy what we could before the "liquidation sale" started. But unfortunately by the time we got there the signs were already up! So I went online and was able to buy some items using our gift card.

I just wanted to give everyone else out there a heads up....You have 2 hours before you can't use your gift cards anymore.

I received the email. We already had our shower, and had received a couple duplicates that we went and exchanged for some other items off our registry and used our gift cards right away. We had to go to another store since the one closest to us had already been selling stuff at a discount to get rid of items before the store closed. We wanted to close out our registry when we went to return the shower gifts, but they said we had to wait until after our wedding date to receive the 20% discount. I am so mad now because we don't get to use it. The store by us that was closing only offered a 10% discount, but not sure if they are going to increase the discount due to all the stores closing now. I wanted to get over there to get the rest of my towels and my kitchenaid attachments before they are all gone!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
