Welcome Guilyn! Ann made some great non-resort suggestions. I'm getting married in Cabo at a large resort and I did hire a wedding coordinator. I'm so glad that I did. She seems to be really on top of everything and very detail oriented.

Good luck! Let me know if I can help.

Hi,

welcome to the board. I used this website to check out Mexico DW's. A lot of the hotel info also contain wedding info. You can check out the pricing and what the hotel has to offer. It's great to get an estimate of the wedding

Oh by the way, I am Hang. Getting married at Dreams Cancun May 29th 2007

Hey, I'm in Austin too. Are you doing a reception in Austin or just a one shot destination thing?

If you want something smaller, less touristy, then I'd say Riveria Maya (Tulum maybe?). My FI and I stayed at the Cabanas Copal in Tulum and loved it. I think the same people own the Azulik hotel as well, and it looked very romantic. We went during high season (xmas), and even though the Cabanas the the 2 other resorts were sold out it didn't seem crowded or crazy.

I also really love the British Virgin Islands (BVI) because most places are small and laid back.

Welcome-I am sure you can find a location that is perfect for you-but if you think you might want something closer to home, you can always do what I am doing, something close (to friends and family-so they can all still come) but still a vacation type of place where you can have other events too. Let me know if you need more details

My aunt and uncle love Belize, and one resort in particular. I don't know the name of it at the moment, but they have stayed there several times. When they returned from their latest stay, my aunt raved about a wedding they ended up sort of being a part of. The resort is definitely "intimate". She thought they were the only ones there that weren't with the wedding. I think she estimated between 50-60 guests. If Belize sparks your interest, send me a PM (private message). I can get more details from my aunt, and possibly some pics. I think this place would be perfect for what you're lookinng for. Intimate...and with potential to be "rented out"!

Welcome! Just FYI on the Cabo Surf thing...since it's in San Jose and not actually in Cabo its definitely NOT the spring break semi-naked college girls scene at all. We felt like we were a million miles away from all of that. Check out my pics (link in siggy) if you are interested. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
