How much is your wedding costing you?

Recommended Posts

My Fiance and I were going over our budget last night and we are going crazy... We do not want to skimp on anything BUT at the same time the reason we planned on a DW was so that we wouldnt go into debt over a wedding. I know it sounds stupid but I am having the biggest issues with my OOT bags. I want to give my guests quality things that they will use BUT i feel like all the items are starting to add up!!! I will post my full budget later... we originally planned on about 30 people coming but right now we have 60-which is great BUT put's our costs WAYYYY up!
I sympathize with you. I was not planning on having this many people. I didn't want to go over our budget :-(

After going through the wedding of my sister with 100+ guests several years ago I realized that I don't want a big wedding at all. I just don't think spending several thousand dollars more will make me happier and make my "I do" any more special.

Cost breakdown:

Trip for 2 (flight + resort) - 3000$

Photography - 800$

Dresses (ceremony and reception) - 300$

Groom's attire - 100$

Rings (titanium with gold inlay) - 250$

The rest goes on hair & makeup, accessories, bouquet & boutonniere, wedding arch on the beach.

You really can't beat that and for the way I'm busting my ass- I wish it was the path I chose. I am two steps away from misery working three jobs. I never even see my fiance ; ( or sleep for that matter.

We are in the same boat... we choose to have a DW as we wanted to trim our guest list and costs... it did save us money but we thought it would be about $15,000... its becoming a lot more then that.

We have 2 bridesmaids, 2 groomsman for a total of 54 guest and our breakdown is:

Wedding Package (Fees, License, Cake, Champagne, Dinner): $2928

Music (DJ, Steel Pan Band): $1150

Flowers (Bouquets, Boutonnière, Centerpieces, etc)  : $2400

Cocktail hour, bonfire and Bar : $2648

Entertainment:  $1110

Brides Attire (Dress, shoes, jewelry):  $2940

Makeup and hair (bridal party):  $510

Grooms Attire: $780

Wedding Rings: $3470

Bridesmaid and Groomsman Gifts: $800

Photographer : $2000

Travel/Accommodations (for 2):  $3570

Gift bags: $950

Favors: $250

Invitations: $350

Which is close to $26,000. .. and I'm sure I'm missing stuff.

That doesn't include the engagement ring  or honeymoon which adds a huge chunk.. but we did a honeymoon registry so we know that we will get money towards that which will really help out at this point as by the time this wedding is over, we won't be able to afford to go on a honeymoon!

This is fabulous! We are having a small wedding too (about ten people with us - parents, siblings, and his best friend) and, though I get slightly wistful looking at destination weddings with 40+ people, I think that this is definitely the way to go. Could not be more perfect! And talk about how special an intimate wedding will be.

Congratulations and happy planning!

lol it adds up quickly. Our travel (flights and accommodations for FI and I - 7 nights) and my dress/FIs attire alone come to 6k. So that doesn't really work for us...

All the best to you! I just started planning and I know that my wedding package and airfare and hotel alone are probably going to be at around 6K. We're thinking of having about 40 guests with a budget of 15k. I'm also thinking of doing a lot of things myself to save some money, because I like it and because it helps me feel more in control when everything is being done for you so far away. It will be somewhat of a stress reliever :).

I would like to keep our budget at about 10k for everything.

I believe our hotel ( 1 week  at the hotel we are marrying at and 1 week honey moon at a alternate location) will cost us about 2500 each so 5k right there. and the rest of the budge basically is going to rings, wedding dress, tux, and photography.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
