My DH never set a budget, but it was my goal to keep everything under $10K. Now that we are all done with everything, including AHR, here's what we spent:

Resort: 4500 for 11 nights

Airfare: 1050

License Fee: 350 (incl. translations)

Save-the-date: 100 (incl. stamps)

Engagement Photos: 50

DIY Passport Invitations: 300 (incl. stamps)

OOT Bags: 350

Flowers & Decor: 500

Bride's Attire: 500 (incl. 3 dresses)

Photography: 2800

Set-up Fees: 110

Horse & Carriage: 130

iPod Speakers & Technician: 220

AHR Luncheon: 2600

That brings our total expenditure to $12,710. I did not include the cost of DH's suit because he purchased a black suit that will be worn several times again. We used resort promotional dollars to pay for hair, makeup and our wedding video. Our resort also included a welcome dinner for 30 people, cocktail hour after ceremony and a private reception for all our guests. And as a final bonus, because we had enough room nights booked, we received a refund from the resort for $1600.

Overall, our dream wedding cost just over $11,000.

Oh God knowing my fam I will b spending way too much on alcohol.shots.gif But thats why we chose a AHR venue that is BYOB. That way at least we know we are not being charged $60 for a bottle of Captain.

I looked into this really awesome venue here in Pittburgh called The Church Brewworks. It was $30k just to rent the space! wtf.gif

Some of my secrets, well lets see:

-We chose a resort which offers a free wedding!

-We aren't doing many extras or bringing many decorations, just what is provided.

-Our travel, is our biggest chunk of our budget, but the travel company we are going with offered us a free trip if we had so many people booked (only 16), so we are only paying for one trip!

Other then that I dont really have any other secrets haha!

The hard rock punta cana is kinda like that...you get a free comp. wedding with 7 night stay and if you have 75 room nights booked you get free unlimited private events (that's only 15 couples for 5 nights!)  We are planning on having a welcome party, cocktail hour after ceremony, and Reception! We arn't getting any decorations just OOT bags, possible favors, and gifts for wedding party!

Oh and did I mention the 1500$ resort credits you can use for wedding, room upgrades, spa or golf!

Best deal I could find!

That is the same deal for all Palace Resorts, plus if you have 60 nights booked they refund 4 nights and for 75 room nights they refund you 7 nights.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
