How much is your wedding costing you?

Recommended Posts

For Marvin I paid $165 for my bridal bouquet and $65 for each bridesmiad bouquet- well worth it in my opinion as the flowers were gorgeous! And way cheaper than the resort!

I figured I would pay the iPod hookup fee too. My FI is really picky about music and is going to hand pick every song anyways. So he can create the playlist. I'm flying down my own photog too and her assistant. She is greatly discounting her rate for opportunity to go to Mexico. She too will do my boudoir photos, bridal s, and anything I want in Mexico. :D. Is it June, yet?

My group is a dancing, partying group. I thought long and hard about the DJ and ultimately, I couldn't justify spending $2k. I figure we can use the Ipod for "first dance", intro to the wedding party, during dinner etc. And if it just isn't loud enough, we'll go party next door. I've heard the sme tips about the florist. .. have someone meet them out front to avoid the fees.

Maya Floral is Marvin's company.  I got married at Sun Palace and I only had the resort do my hair and my MOH did my makeup.

don't worry - if you want extras it can really add up. If you're looking for a basic ceremony a lot of resorts give it to you free.

I used Marvin with Maya Floral for my wedding in June. I paid $165 for my bridal bouquet. The cost saver here was... i got the bridesmaid bouquets for $75 apiece and then used them as my center pieces for the reception. It was perfect! It saved us so much money not buying 5 extra center pieces too!

Your flowers are gorgeous! I love the bright pink and blue together. I was thinking of reusing my BM bouquets for centerpieces as well. I know i am definitely going to keep it simple, floral centerpieces just not sure if i want to purchase separate ones or not.

Thanks for the info!

I am having a DJ since I want to have a reception at the resort and I don't think an iPod will work for that many people, the photographer and video was like a 35% of the budget. You can use the resort linens free if you keep the white and I just bought a bunch of linen for my engagement party, be aware they are HEAVY! a box with 16 was about 50 pounds.

I also think outside florist is the way to go as long as they don't come inside the resort to do the set up (outside vendor fee), but I also found out that flowers in MX are more expensive in general than here in US, even if you are using a non resort vendor.

I am also contemplating bringing my own linens, and using an outside florist. I dont really plan on using any other the resorts "rented" items that cost a fortune.

I heard that even baby breaths in Mexico were ridiculously expensive.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
