They don't necessarily have to be - I did a survival kit type thing as a "welcome gift" and then  wine stoppers as favors and I spent $150 total for 24 kits & 24 stoppers .... a mix of DIY (did the toppers of my survival kits myself) & shopping around. A small gift would be just as sweet and I am sure your guests will appreciate it : )

I wish I was crafty.

Yes! They do offer a complimentary package! I looked into that again yesterday. But with all the inclusions with the package we chose, it's not worth it. I'm going to try to negotiate trades for the few things included we don't plan to use for the few add ons we'll have.

OMG, I have only thought about what my budget is and in my head is 13-15, seeing this in written is frightening. Can you get a complementary package from your resort if you have certain number of nights booked?

Yeah, I've thought of that too. I have mixed feelings on OOT bags. I think it's a cute idea and I'd have fun doing it. But there's the cost and logistics of delivery also. If we were having over 50 guests I think I'd forgo it. But with 30-40 I think it'd be nice. At this point I'm undecided.

I have to be honest- I really wanted to do OOT bags but it was more stuff to lug down, and no one complained about not getting one. Perhaps you can settle on one souvenir that you really love. I see a lot of couples buy tumbler cups with their names on them and while I was at my wedding, I saw a huge wedding party of 100 people and they had the cups. they really come in handy because my resort gave us paper cups when we were in the pool and beach bars and we had to ask them to double stack them. Tumblers are great for everyone to put their drinks in.

Girl I am NOT crafty... it was seriously very easy (which is why it was my only DIY project). If you can get 150 posts you can use a template here for the kits but I just built my own because I work with powerpoint all the time and felt ok making my own. It's as easy as printing something out on nice cardstock and stapling it (albeit nicely) to a quart size ziplock bag (You don't really notice the staple) . I've attached what mine look like, but really they look much nicer in person because it sort of looks like printer paper here- but it isn't. Not really fancy enough for a favor on the day-of but certainly at our welcome-party which is more casual. I don't think people will miss the entire OOT bag... (at least I hope not!) I will just lay these out nicely or put them in a basket.

I filled them with lots of things like hand-sanitzer, band-aids, advil, lint roller etc. Ebay & Target were my best friends haha.

Do you have a friend who is? My friend is gonna help me brainstorm and also with some of the computer stuff. But I'm thinking that I'll have a DIY party. I'll prob end up with 5-10 girls there. We'll just all DIY together and hopefully knock it all out in one evening! I'm not ultra crafty either, by the time I've researched everything to death, made a plan, and done a project, it would have been a better use of time to just buy stuff! Lol! But I think a DIY party will be fun! A few bottles of wine and maybe a fruit plate, and it's just a party (with activities) lol

My mother in law is very crafty. I just wish we had more time to spend together. I'll try to get her to help me.

I just had a mini melt down. My mother in law made a big deal to my fiance about how her mother had to be present at the wedding, which means that its a cost my fiance and I have to bear. I just looked up the flights from Dominican Republic to Jamaica and they are almost $1,000 !!! I almost fainted. We have to budget $1500 for the grandmother :(

Why do you have to pay for it?  If your MIL wants her there, ask her to pay!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
