How much is your wedding costing you?

Recommended Posts

This is our predicted budget for Playacar Palace - Complementary Wedding Package Package 25-30 Guests
We had several things that were a priority to spend more money on, rings, photographer, custom kilts for the groomsmen, wedding resort and honeymoon resort.
Ceremony
Officiant Fee - $460
Accessories  - $400 (‘sand†ceremony which will be made into a glass sculpture after wards)
Rings - $2,400 (Both custom made by the place that made my engagement ring)

Reception (Mexico)

Rehearsal Dinner - Free with group benefits
Food/drinks - Included in wedding package/group benefits (May extend dinner/party 2 hrs for $360)
Decorations - From AHR decorations

Reception (AHR)
Venue - $1,000 (My mother is paying)
Food - $1,000 (Apps and Desserts)
Alcohol/Bar - $1,500 (FIâ€s Parents paying)

Insurance - $250
Flowers/Decorations/Guest book - $750

Attire
Wedding Gown - $1000 (Custom made using grandmothers/mothers dress & cheap cheap dress for the TTD)
Accessories - $200 (Hair Piece, Veil, Shoes, etc)

Hair/Make-up - $85
Flowers  - Included in wedding package

Photographer - $3,000 (Wedding & TTD)

Stationary
STDâ€s, Invites & Postage - $100 (All DIY, FIâ€s Parentâ€s paying)
Thank youâ€s - $75

Gifts
Bridal Party - $575 (Custom kilts for the guys, gift for MOH)
Parentâ€s Gifts - $90 (Glass sculptures made from our ‘sand†ceremony)
Favours (AHR) - $200 (Homemade Jams)
OOT Bags (Mexico) - $150

Trip Cost - $4,500 - 8 Days Ocean view room (Group benefits include free room upgrade for us)

Music - Don't know speaker rental price to go with ipod yet.
Grooms outfit - No idea yet
Honeymoon - Donâ€t have a price on the hotel yet.

Thatâ€s what we have so far, Iâ€ve over budgeted on most things, Iâ€m hoping to come in under on a lot of things, and I am doing a TON of DIY on as much as possible. We are also going to bring down some easy to pack decorations (table cloths, chair ties, paper lanterns, etc.) to mexico and then use them at our AHR when we come back (luckily several guests have offered to use their 'second' bags as decoration carriers).

We get $1,500 resort credits to use on any excursions/spa/rooms upgrades. We are also using our different group benefits (free room nights, free trip based on group size) on the couple guests who need more help financially so that we can have them come. Otherwise our trip would be free....

Our total budget comes to $18,500 not including honeymoon, grooms outfit and speaker rental. Honeymoon will be at Cozumel Palace for 7 days after the wedding, so itâ€s just the hotel cost added on, plus we will get a $1,500 resort credit there as well.  Iâ€m working hard to keep it under $20,000, but considering we donâ€t want a huge ceremony at home (30 guests in MX compared to 150+ guests at home), we are having a legal ceremony down there, and we are having a huge AHR (all DIY), itâ€s not as bad as I thought it would be. A wedding at home would probably cost more than $25,000 without the awesome vacation included :)

I completely feel where you're coming from, and i think most people approach it as an individual decision.

For example, we found our Bridesmaid dresses for 40 dollars. the girls were more than happy to pay this price themselves! I believe many people are prepared to pay for their outfits/rentals in terms of the bridal party.

As for hair and makeup, I think this is where DWs can be great for the bridal party in terms of "extra pampering" for them...

We are thinking of paying to have all the girl's hair and makeup done so that we can all be on a similar page in terms of "how" the makeup looks, and this may also help all the girls fret less about ensuring their hair and makeup stands the test of wind and hot weather!

In the end, I think it's just important that you and your partner decide on this together :)

Very true! :) thanks for the advice! Where did you find your dresses? I'd totally love something fun and cheap. I always hated expensive bridesmaids dresses that you can only wear once.

Exactly! I wanted the girls to pay a fairly low price seeing as their coming to wedding already. Plus I wanted something they could wear again :)

I found this deal on dealfind, and after talking to the company owners, saw that these transformation skirts are much better quality than the others out there. thicker, more flowy, extra material so not clingy, etc.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
