We sent out our STD's in July via email. We really wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible so they would have time to save.

Haven't found the bridesmaid dresses yet, and I might wait until closer to spring when all the spring/summer stuff comes out again.

Looks like I'm JUST going to miss you! We're staying at the Riu Palace too but we arrive on Oct 19 09.

I would say your next steps are browsing through centerpieces and trying on wedding gowns!

I actually already have my dress : )

Hello all,

This is a fantastic post to which I am adding.

My bf and I are still at square one. We have gone ring shopping, but he has yet to drop the question. (On a side note: I LOVE the Jewelrymart/Giftcenter in San Francisco.) I know he's waiting for the right moment.

Despite not having the ring, we're still moving forward with our plans. We have narrowed down to a September/October 2009 time frame.

In February 2008, we spent a week in Cancun and fell in love with the area. We returned to Mexico earlier this month. This time, however, we stayed in Playa del Carmen. We searched some sites out, but we're still doing our homework.

As for the October rain, it was really hit or miss. We wore shorts/summer clothes day and night. If it rained, the longest it lasted was maybe 15 minutes. It wasn't enough to deter me away from my quest to find a location! Plus, we both returned home with fantastic tans!

As for prepping for the wedding, here's what we've done so far:

set up the Adobe InDesign files for save the dates

set up the Adobe InDesign files for invitations, rsvp, etc.

set the guest list

alerted our guest list of the upcoming plans

Things we have yet to do:

1. Get engaged!

2. Settle on a location and set a date...

I'm a November 6, 2009 bride. That counts right?

So far we have picked the date, reserved the date with the hotel, started on our website, ordering save the dates, and I have picked a dress.

Looks like I am on track... My hotel doesn't have rates for November 2009 yet, except through my TA. I want to see the rates from other places before I book and send out save the dates so that I know what's a good deal.

Hello October brides smile03.gif

I am getting married Oct 10, 2009 at Dreams Los Cabos. So far we have our room block from (Tammy Host), and made our website. Right now we are deciding on colors, and the photographer which is really hard!! Not sure if we are going to do invitations cause we want to keep this as small as possible, plus everyone has gotten the information from the website. If we do them it won't be many. I haven't been planning like I should..I need to hop to it!

The dresses I like were part of a trunk sale so my daughters and I went back out Sunday and tried the dresses back on and took good pictures.
Oh, that's funny about your mom - hope you weren't too mad at her.
Still waiting to see those dress pics!

  • 1 month later...

Hi girls!

10 months to go! Just wanted to check in and see how everyone's planning is going! I've got all the major things done (I think). Trip is booked, STDs are out, website is up, dress is purchased, photographer booked, DJ booked. Invitations are next, although I'm still undecided on when they should go out. Don't want to send them too soon or too late, you know? Also working on finding a suit for FI and a dress for my one bridesmaid.

How is planning going for the rest of you girls?

Hello fellow Oct/Nov 2009 Brides! What a great post!

I am getting married October 27/09 at the Melia Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana.

I have the trip booked (deposits down), a block of 15 rooms set aside for guests, DIY travel brochure invite sent, wedding website up and running and the photographer booked!

I am in the process of looking at at home reception venues for November of 2009.

No dress yet...but I soon as I find "the one", it will be one last thing to do!

I'm not sure what else I should be doing at this point? I feel like I SHOULD be planning other things...any advicehuh.gif

I feel like I should be planning something too, but there really isn't anything I can plan until the date gets closer. At least I don't think there is? Some stuff will depend on how many people end up coming. So far no one has booked, but it's still really early!

cdc0427, I think you had mentioned before that you felt like October wasn't all that far away, right? May 2010 will definitely give you some extra time to enjoy planning without so much of the timeline stress!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
