Hi Tiffiney,

First let me say welcome4.gif to the forum!

I believe that I am the first actual RIU Vallarta bride here on BDW. Helen was the first mother of the bride and she has been a tremendous help to me also

I am getting married at RIU Vallarta in 26 days! Let me know if I can help you.

Congratulations!

Welcome to the forum! We are also getting married at the Riu Vallarta on April 17th, 2009. If you have any questions (or maybe I could ask you some too haha), let me know! I didn't know we could rent out the pool area for an after dinner reception so I will have to check into that....hmmm more to do

Hi there!

Yeah, we are tying up our loose ends there. Yes, Erika is our WC. She is sweet in person. A very tiny young lady. I haven't heard from her in a while. I think she knows what i want though as we have been in contact for the past year. She does take a while to get back to e-mails though. Everything in Mexico is a little slower than we are used to!

We are arriving three days prior, but we aren't getting legally married there. We are having a symbolic ceremony there; however our guests don't know the difference. PLUS it's cheaper. We are actually going to the Justice of the Peace on Halloween for legalities. In our minds our "real" wedding is in Mexico.

Yep - you can rent the pool bar. All of the costs are on the RIU website on the wedding information page. PM me if you have any other questions. I'd be happy to help you out with what I can. We are doing our wedding on the beach and are having our dinner group at the Flamingo, then are renting the pool bar for 3 hours. I am having my cake cutting at the bar instead of the restaurant.

Erika has been pretty open to our own decoration. She said they had staff to help decorate. She can arrange fireworks and a cigar roller too if you are interested. We are getting our cake through them as I never had any luck in getting with the people at Pie in the Sky. Although their cake was very good, the prices were a little high for my budget. The cake at RIU was free for the top portion, each additional layer is $50.

Where your guests are concerned, make sure you have all of them stay there, or as many as you can. The cost for daypasses is $60 for a half day and starts at 3pm. The daypasses are a real budget breaker.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
