Tammy's Engagement Story

Recommended Posts

Well i am not much of a writer (or typist) so bear with me...

I met steve 3.5 years ago. we met off match.com of all places. my coworker was going through a bad break up and wanted to use match but was scared to do it by herself so she convinced me to do it with her. Even though i was very supportive of her, i did not think i was going to meet anyone "normal" on match so i did not put my picture up or even write anything in my profile.

One day, she came down to see if i had ny cute matches...and steve's face popped up...i was like he's cute and she literally made me email him on the spot so i emailed something really lame to him, like "you're cute".

That was it.

He asked me for my pic and i refused and we got into an internet argument over it. me being the feminist was trying to convince him looks weren't everything ad he shouldn't be so shallow....his response.."whatever, DUDE!"

he thought i was a guy! so i had to send him a pic to prove i wasnt and i guess you can fugure out the rest.

so....

Every year, Steve and I go up to his family cabin in Northern California. This cabin has alot of significance to him because he used to go every year as a kid and he associates the cabin with a really happy period in his life. It is this really charming town with 1 country store, no phones and no cars.

Last August I almost had to cancel and have steve go up on his own. I was really swamped at work and had a hard time taking the time off. Well let's just say he sort of freaked. He made me feel really bad about not going which kind of surprised me.

So i went, a little begrudgingly.

One night he asked if i wanted to go on a sunset walk. We walked to the swimming hole and he sat me down on a log and asked me if i would spend the rest of my life with him....i of course cried and said YES!woot.gif He had the most gorgeous diamond ring. he knew i was not much of a diamond girl (because of all the atrocities in sierre leone) so he made sure to get adiamond that was not mined anywhere in africa. When he put it on my finger he made sure to tell me that.

I guess i am still surprised he married me because steve is the consumate "player". he was a model and plays in a local band and has toured all over the US and europe so girls have always thrown themselves at him. When we first met, he even told me he did not want a girlfriend and he didn't believe in marriage...well, i guess he changed his mind on that.msnwink.gif

I just feel so lucky to be with him....he is my soul mate but most of all he is my best friend. we love spending time together. he is very sweet and respectful towards me and treats me like his princess.

this is a pic of us at the cabin walking to the swimming hole...his mom took it.

Aww thats very sweet Tammy! It's wonderful that you know Steve loves you enough to give up his "player" ways. That's the ultimate accomplishment!

You guys seem so perfect for eachother and I can even seen the love between you in all of your pictures!

Thanks! I have never been to SF but it is definitely on my list of places to visit. You know, once I stop all the wedding-related travel that took over this whole year! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
