ROR steel drum band

Recommended Posts

We hired the steel drum band for one hour. They will begin at 3:45. At 4:00 we will have our ceremony.

1. After our vows, we'd like the judge to explain the sand ceremony and then have the steel drum band play a song while we actually walk over to the table and pour the sand. I'm thinking we could also sign our marriage license along with our witnesses at this time while the guests enjoy the music. Anyone ever done this?

2. Since the ceremony will last until 4:25 or so, the steel band drum will only play for an additional 20 minutes. We have the list of songs they can play from this site and from Chandlyn. Any idea how many we need to pick? We have nine selected that we like...

3. We thought we'd have Chandlyn play her CD of the wedding march rather than the steel drum band play it. Can anyone share their experiences with this? Does the CD sound good? Did anyone really like the steel band drum's version of the wedding march? I've seen it on youtube and it's, maybe just not traditional enough for what I envision...

I personally downloaded a bunch of tunes from itunes.

We have 5 instrumental wedding songs - The O'Neill Brothers - one of which is the song I will walk down the aisle to "How Beautiful by O'Neill Brothers" and then 5 other songs that will play *softly* during the ceremony.

Right after the last "ceremony" song we have 15 songs by Jamaican Steel Drum Band, Syd Marsh & Peter Samuels. These songs will play after the ceremony, toasts and pictures.

We are using an iPod docking station. Just a suggestion or something to consider instead of spending the extra money...but to each's own wink.gif

I was also wondering about the steel drums...if you don't have them play at all during the actual ceremony, I assume they still count that into their time? It makes me a little torn that I would be paying for an hour, but if it's a 20 minute ceremony, would actually only have them playing for 40 minutes....

I was hoping to hire the steel drum band for my wedding as well, but we are still not sure. Is there someone there who could control an IPOD or CD for you, so that the right music is playing at the right times? i would hate to have to ask a guest to do this, but I am not sure if Chandlyn will have someone available to do this for us. ANy ideas or has anyone had any experience with this?

I watched a wedding at ROR last week that had the steel band and they were great but I dont know if I would pay $350 for them??

Other weddings had just an IPOD playing and were equally as beautiful it depends if you want the carribean feel I guess?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
