Hi everyone Can I resurrect this thread?

 

DH and I just got back from our DW and Mexico last week. It was all fabulous! We are now TTC.

I went off BC in October (late October) and had my first period after in early December. I too had a terrible month and a bit and now I"m noticing that my skin is horrible... wondering if that's post-wedding stress catching up to me or if it's because I am no longer on the BCP.

Anyway, not sure where I am in my cycle but if it's normal, I assume my best days are around Dec 15-19 or so (right now)... we stopped using protection the night of the wedding.

 

After reading thorugh this thread, I decided to check out FF and the charting stuff. It all seems really complicated, but I've signed up for the daily emails. Hopefully I'll start understanding it all soon.

I think I'll start taking my temperature tomorrow morning if I remember. Is it possible to just do that and not worry about the CM?

 

How are you all doing? Tami? Calia? Hope you're all doing ok. I know that if I get AF in early Jan I will be sad and that's just one month. I can see already how it can be quite the emotional rollercoaster.

Congrats on TTC! It is a roller coaster ride so get ready. I was really confused at the beginning but I really recommend charting. After about two weeks you really get the hang of it and it starts making a lot of sense. Also take the fertility friend school or whatever it is. It taught me a lot.

Thanks, Kathi! So is it just agonizing all month waiting to find out if you're preggo or not? I'm already thinking about it a lot.
I don't know how early you can find out with tests, but I've read about 4 days before your Day 1 should start.. I have tests already bought in the cupboard. Do you take them often? Eegad I"m already a lunatic and it's only the first month... sigh.
I was going to start taking my temp but I don'tknow if our thermometer is ok. It's just a standard digital. I think it goes to one decimal place. Is that ok? Or do I have to go get a special one?

Get a Basal Body Thermometer. You can get them anywhere. They are about ten bucks. You will take tests like a maniac at first but then they start getting expensive and your heart hates to see the BFN. It is easier to just start AF then to see the actual test for some reason. I try not to test until I am late. With the temping you can watch your temps and it can give you an idea if you might be prego. Right now I am three days past ovulation. I have to wait about two more weeks to find out if I am prego. They waiting sucks. It really sucks when your cycles are really long like mine. Sometimes girls ovulate two times in the one time I ovulate. If you ever need to bitch/moan/cry etc. I am here. Once you join Fertility Friend we can become friends on there and watch each others charts and help give advice and such.

I'm TTCing but not charting yet. I did sign up for fertility friend but havent done much with it, didnt even take the lessons. I'm afraid to really get into charting because i think i'll drive myself crazy.

I'm having difficulty already taking the temperature. I'll definitely go out and get one of those BB thermometers today.

My issue is the time. I often have to get up and pee in the middle of the night. And today I had to get up at 5 and I wasn't going to take my temp until 6:30, so I didn't have 3 hrs sleep before. Is that a big deal?

You should try to get three hours sleep before you do but if you cant you can't ya know? But if you wake up every morning at a certain time to pee maybe you can take your temp then. I have my alarm set for 615 I take my temp EVERY morning at that time. Even when I don't have to get up. I just take it then go back to sleep. So, if you vary your wake up times from 5-630 then I would set my alarm at 5 then go back to sleep until 630. It really does get easier once you have learned to do it.
The other day I couldn't take my temp at all. I had to take my stepson to the airport at two am I didn't get home until eight am then I only got two and half hours sleep and got up for the day. So I just skipped that day. But usually I get a general temp every morning.

I went all over town last night trying to find a basal body thermometer. Holy crap! Finally found one for $18. Still can't really tell what the difference is with my regular one, but whatever.

I have only taken my temp for the past 3 days. It spiked on Saturday morning, but I went drinking on Friday night so that could be why. Today it was back to what it was on Thursday morning.

I'm around the time where I should be ovulating or should have a few days ago, but since my temp is not elevated I don't know if it happened at all.

 

It's frustrating. I think I'll have to wait another month so I can really get used to what my cycle looks like. I want to know now though!

I've been charting my temp with a regular thermometer for the past few weeks to get the hang of it. Is there really a difference between thermometers? This one seems to be doing the trick. Do you all take it while lying in bed? I get up and walk three steps to the bathroom to take mine. I can see this will be a roller coaster ride already!

Oh you have to email me... sunset81. Then I can stalk you! You have to take it before getting up!! And you need to get a Basal Body thermometer. It is more accurate and sometimes you need a little more accuracy. good luck!
