P.V. Brides please help!!

My resort is charging the following for entertainment:

SOLO GUITAR PLAYER $900

JAZZ DUO (2 HOURS) $1,000

MEXICAN TRIO (3 hours) $1,300

CLASSIC QUARTET (Violin, Chello) $1,900

MARIACHI (3 hours) $1,500

Is it me, or do these prices seem really, really high? Especially the DJ! What is everyone else paying for these services?

Can you recommend any companies that could/would offer a better deal??

Yanell - I think part of the reason your prices are so much higher is where you are located. Prices will be much cheaper in Vallarta proper. When travel is involved the groups have to consider gas, food and, sometimes, lodging, depending on how late they will be at your event. Just something to keep in mind :).

I've done some research. And requested quotes from multiple DJ companies. And to travel from Puerto Vallarta or Guadalajara to Careyes, the quotes range from $500 - $3000 (depending on the package). So obviously the DJ I am meeting with is on the extreme high end AND he is only traveling from Manzanillo (about an hour).

So now I need to decide, do I hire my own DJ and save money (not knowing how reputable they may be) or do I go with the expensive DJ whom the resort seems to feel is the best??

I don't know what to do....rant.gif

I haven't even started with additional entertainment!!! sad.gif

Is the d.j. going to be the master of ceremonies also? If not then he's just playing tunes and as long as you have a song list I don't see why you should pay that much more. I know that some of the d.j.'s do not speak english and you would need your own mc anyway. Good luck.

Yanell-

The prices are double if not triple from what you pay in Cabo, PV and Cancun, BUT you are getting married in Careyes which most of these vendors have to travel there and even stay over night. Also Careyes is amazing your guests will be blown away. We wanted to get married there, but it was over double when all was said and done from our proposal in PV.

I wish you the best. Your wedding will be amazing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
