Being that we had our guests booking together as a group, it was important that we had some type of estimate & we knew who was in & who was out. Thats mainly why we asked for rsvp's when I sent out the STD's.

And yes, early rsvp's certainly helped when it came down to sending invites. Even though mine were DIY, I didn't overspend when it came to the materials that I used & helped. It also helped me in general with knowing how large my wedding related projects would be, in terms of how many oot bags I would potentialy have to make, the amount of items I'd put in them, how many raffia fans I'd have to make, how many favors I'd need...the list goes on.
Early numbers were important for me & it really does all add up!

That's what I did. STD with tentative RSVP's. Those that respond yes or maybe will get a formal invite later. And knowing what the numbers might be does help.

I dont think it's rude. We kind of did something similiar. We did boarding pass invites and for the people that actually booked we put 3 extra inserts that had extra trip info and resort info. Oh and we personalized the boarding passes for those that booked too.

My uncle just asked me yesterday if that's the only thing he had to bring with him to get on the plane. I looked at him puzzled and realized he was talking about my invites lol

I agree with the rest of the girls and I don't feel that anything is wrong with that at all!
In fact, my stepmom recently asked if I would have "extra" formal invitations?? I assume she wants to give them to friends who are not actually attending the wedding and rather than spend extra $$ on the more expensive invites, I'd rather give her something less expensive!!
Now that I think about it, my fmil asked the same thing!
It's sooo frustrating! Especially because WE are paying for everything!
At the same time if we don't give them "extra" or we question waht they are doing, then WE are the bad ones!!!!!!
I don't know if it's because it's that time of month for me but all of this crap is really starting to annoy me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After speaking to someone else who recieved a STD for another destination wedding. I was told to make sure I send invitations to everyone who recieved a STD.

If your STD stated formal invitation to follow then you need to send the invitation if they have booked their trip or not.

Just something to think about for those who were only sending stds and invites to booked guest.

Or you can state that all that say yes will receieve a formal invite only at a later date. That's kinda what I did for the yes and maybe people.

We've not invited many so i'm just sending out invitations. We don't to STD's in the UK I don't think.

I'm hoping when they get the invite it might make them bloody decide to book lol

I'm dealing with the same issue. I have picked my "nice" invites but can't figure out how may to order. I'm thinking about just sending them to those who have RSVP'd on our website.
