big destination wedding

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm just reading through people's posts about their "out of town" bags and I really want to do one of these too now!

For our wedding we're inviting 90 guests, about 70 will be travelling from outside France (England, Wales, Canada, US, Italy to name a few). Can anyone recommend something to make guests feel special on their arrival without costing a fortune?

Hannah

Hi, we are expecting about 70-100 people as well. I am thinking about doing a small scale bag for each couple using a paper gift bag in our colors and putting a few things for their trip. I am going to do a booklet of things to do in the area and a map and print those myself and throw in a couple of beachy things since we will be in Mexico. But, nothing too big because you have to carry it down there. People will appreciate it and it doesn't have to cost a ton.

We're expecting 70ish people as well and I was thinking the same type of thing. A little gift bag with a welcome letter in it and maybe a couple of beachy goodies, and a spanish phrases for dummies book (if I can find them really cheap). One bag per couple or one bag per single person. Hopefully that won't cost too much. I'm not including any drinks or snacks since we're staying at an AI so everything is available and free anyway!

I agree with everyone, just a little gift bag (one per room) to let them know that you appreciate them coming. Maybe even just two bottles of water, snacks, and then the welcome note?

Ummm.... I really like the girls that gave gift bags in their wedding colors and DIY things like first aid kits, etc. All of the labels are cute and are very thoughtful!

Plus, gift bags are smaller, 30 canvas totes take up one very large suitcase on their own.

DIY would save you $$ and look like you put a lot of thought into it... a hand written welcome is nice too!

Heather there was someone that made a Spanish for dummies and I thought it was super cute! Look in the DIY forum for the template and just have them printed with your logo... otherwise Dollar Tree had a Spanish/English dictonary for $1.

Have you checked out the sticky in this subforum called: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t28059 ? It has a great list and you could pick some things that are cheaper...and maybe do something France specific - small French phrase book, small bottle of local wine/pastries...when I was in France this summer with some French friends, they would take me to local places and I loved getting a taste of the culture that way. Good luck!

I have 90 guests.

I bought my Personalized paper bags from Oriental Trading-48 of them. I'm giving one per couple. The extra bags I gave to the single people (I'm giving condoms to the guys ($1 section of Target)lol .

For the kids I bought a colorful paper bags from target and I fiiled them with kids stuff from Michael's Dollar bins or dollar tree.

I made my Welcome books out of recycled paper bags- I printed information, cut and pasted. The bags are small so you can't stuff too many things in them, which keeps you from going crazy, or does it?! lol

  • Inside the OOT bags I'm putting:
  • First aid kits-DIY lable
  • $0.90 Banana Boat sunscreen
  • pepto
  • motrin
  • lip balm with my DIY label (bought the lip balms wholesale)
  • mosquito repellant towlettes (box bought at Office Depot)
  • Spanish phrases for dummies at target,
  • Starfish bath fizz's (dollar tree),
  • Mugs were $100 for 100 with my monogram on them (ebay).
  • My best friend is baking cookies, which will go inside the mugs in a baggie. Key holders
  • 3 Post cards (created on Vista Print for $5 shipping)
For 90 people, it was alot of work but at the end the details pay off.

Shop around, you'll be amazed at the bargins you can find.

Hi! I'm having a 90 person wedding at the iberostar rose hall in jamaica. i own a custom printed apparel company so it's only fitting that i designed my own logo for the bags and t-shirts. my mom really wants me to do printed towels too but i don't want to go overboard with the logo thing. i'm looking for some cute beach towels or even white ones that i can send to my tie dyer, who will hopefully give me a discount because it's for my wedding!!! has anyone come across good quality, but inexpensive towels? my fiance is a musician so incorporating some music related stuff into the bags would be cute too!! I want to do something special for the kids who are coming too, but i don't know what... this is tough!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
