I think the reason I wasn't a fan of the "official" lullaby is because of the soundtrack version. DOn't get me wrong, it is a beautiful song, but it is played with a full orchestal background. IMO it needed to be a piano solo.
Erin, I totally agree with everything you just said! I like the Yiruma song better for the "lullaby" and I loved the Carter Burwell song too, but as you said, I much prefer it as a piano solo than with a complete orchestra.

No, I bet a lot of them won't even recognize it...they might think it is familiar. They are both beautiful & romantic songs.

I hope it's not OTT, I used the Yiruma song for my wedding picture slideshow, hehe wink.gif Also, if you loved River Flows in You then you'll love Kiss the Rain by Yiruma as well....another consideration possibly?

Here it is on youtube:

I have a question for you ladies...what books out of the 4 would you say are inappropriate for children?

I teach at an elementary school and I have noticed a few kids at the school in 3rd - 6th grade (9 - 12 year olds) reading them. I know the first book is pretty safe, but when does the sexual stuff happen? Is it in the 3rd or 4th book? (I read them all in such a short time that they all flow together now!) The kids are bringing the books from home and I'd like to advise parents who probably just saw the movie and think these books are fine for kids. I personally don't think kids that young should even be reading any of them. Even without the sex, there is a lot of kissing and scary parts. Also the love story borders on the lines of obsession and I don't think that is such a good influence for young children.

What do you guys think?

They start talking about it in the 3rd book but they don't actually have sex till the 4th I believe. And then there are no "details" about it, just that it happened... I'm not a good judge on this as my kids see a ton of stuff on TV that they probably shouldn't! lol. But I was right there with you on being concerned about my 13 year old reading it until I read it and realized that it wasn't that bad for her but maybe younger, I don't know.

The sex is a non-issue to me; they are married and over the legal age of consent. If, by the time a kid is CAPABLE of getting through the fourth book, by all means...they should know that married people have sex. lol

The problems I see for young readers are mostly about an inability to seperate reality from fiction. But overall, I honestly think that the stuff that could truly have a negative impact on a young reader (ie, control in a relationship and the like) is of such a nature that it flies right over the heads of anyone too young to really get it. So it doesn't really matter.

If you haven't seen this blog..PLEASE check it out, and maybe your FI/H's would get a laugh out of it too. It's Twilight Widowers. I HAVE NOT LAUGHED SO HARD IN AGES, I promise you! This guy is a freakin genious!

For the guys, some warning signs that they may be being groomed to look like Edward Cullen.

I remembered an odd conversation we had a while ago over the dinner table:

"Stare at me."

"What?"

"Stare at me like you want to eat me."

I frowned. She waited patiently.

"No. That just looks constipated."

It's easy to tell if you're being groomed to look like Pretty McSparkle. Pay close attention to your wife's behaviour and you'll soon picked up the pattern:

1. Random gifts of hair gel ("Try putting your hair up for a change, honey.")

2. Signing you up for piano lessons ("You said you wanted a new hobby.")

3. An unusual interest in your skin care routine ("The UV index is too high. here, wear this SPF 50 sunblock. And a hat. And cover your arms up.")

4. Your wardrobe has taken a decidedly… vintage look lately (“It's what all the guys are wearing now, trust me.â€)

Honey? Why can't I wear shorts to the beach?

5. You are certain she keeps calling you by a different name (“No, you misheard me… I said “I love you, onward!â€)

6. She makes you stand out in the cold for a half-hour before letting you come to bed (“Itâ€ll tighten your poresâ€)

It may be paranoia on our part, I admit. But just remember, when she pages you at work and you hear “phone call for Mr. Cullen,†odds are it isnâ€t just a slip on her part…

And "motivational posters"..I swear, this shit has tears rolling down my face.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
